Here's a little something I cooked up to relieve my boredom.

Modelled in Wings, Rendered in POV-Ray and color-corrected in PS.

Feel free to tell me what you think. Preferrably about this picture...

cube... the one where they're stuck in a trapped maze and don't know why?

That movie sucked.

That is awesome, almost scary, just the thought of being trapped in a place like that. Very well done! :)

Glad you guys liked it. It was a quick render though (about 27 minutes). The raydepth is only 15 and I only used light AA.

I've also tried a few even wider angled shots. This one has a viewing angle of 180.

Like those fabric softener commercials where you go "into" the sock to see the dirt getting washed out!

I like it!

very nice indeed, even if doesnt remotley remind me of Cube, hehe.
it would be very nice with a little insight to how you made it, like what technique you used to make all the cubes connect etc, did you do it by hand?must have been boooring and tedious:) but the result is great!

Scenes like this are easy with POV-Ray because of the flexible SDL.

I just made a simple while loop construction that placed 27000 copies of the mesh in a 3d grid. And because instancing meshes in POV is cheap memory-wise the 27000 copies of the mesh aren't even that much.
The base mesh has 16896 triangles so the total triangle count for the scene is 456192000 :)

Edin: The Cube was a fricken awesome movie. Just because it didn't use huge expensive sets does not mean that it was a crap movie.

Oh, yeh. Nice pic.

Morl:

I have no problem with the sets or the effects. I thought it was well done.

I just don't like movies that have poor story lines and pathetic bases.

 Great Image! I love the sense of depth that it conveys.

Any chance you could post a render of the base mesh all by itself?

Thanks guys

BTW, I haven't seen that movie so naturally it wasn't an inspiration. I just have a strange fixation on infinity.

I can render a higher quality pic for wallpaper usage if there's enough demand. I'll propably keep the aspect ratio as it is but will take suggestions for horizontal resolution.

Here's a screenie of the mesh in Wings, as you can see it's really simple.:D (If I can manage to attach the damn file, grr)
