View Full Version : First Animation, What do you think?
hovito 09-18-2008, 10:29 PM I'm just starting to get into animation.
Although I did a few other Digital Tutor lessons this is my first 'freestyle' .
I wanted to try something that had more complicated movement (twisting & jumping).

Cool man, very Capoeria-ish. He is off balance quite a bit during the kick, watch plenty of reference and you'll notice even mid-spin your body still needs to be balanced.
Try to break up the body a bit by having some parts move at different times, he is very stiff and moving like a robot at the moment.
The settle at the end has him kind of "snapping" back into place like he is spring loaded, give it a little more time at the end for a more natural settle.
Good luck!

zj8264, that's an interesting point that I hadn't thought of.
In my reference footage the martial artist was just doing a demo routine. Do you think adding a powerful pop to all kicks is better than smooth spinning motions?

I like smooth motion too,but i think it base on right timing. in your animation, i prefer kicking fast.do you have some basic animation, such as walk cycle or run cycle ? we can discuss it together, develop together.
