View Full Version : Character - Fiendish Wizard
Nightwing 06-05-2003, 04:25 PM Hi.
Here's a model I've been working on for the past 2 months or so, mainly evening work when I have time, and it's been a nice diversion from the web-design grind :)
He's my second Lightwave character, textures painted in photoshop, rendered in Lightwave.
Bit of background, he is actually a Tiefling.....a character I am playing in a DnD campaign, so the only reference was in my head. He's essentially human, but slightly "other" in an attempt to depict his fiendish blood.
I desperately need to start something new, so even though some areas could use some work, I'm gonna call him done.
Thanks to everyone who posted suggestions and encouragement in the WIP forum.
Comments and crits are always welcomed.

Thanks :)
Um...who's Mark Almond?
Myabe it's just me but his eyes and iris' seema bit larger and out of proportion to the rest of the head. His face is also very long which isn't bad but the portion beneath the nose seems rather exagerated and out of proportion so he almost seems ape like or neanderthal ish. Just an observation. Also are those bone protrusions coming out of the top of his head?

Cheers for the replies.

Thanks for the comments, I wanted him to have human features but also have 'em exaggerated/distorted somewhat. Yeh those are meant to be bone protrusions...in retrospect I realise that's not V apparent :)

um...heh, it's probably got something to do with those rather dodgy eyebrows.

LOL, I'm thinking Mark Almond is a rather unlucky dude in that case. Never heard of him, something tells me this is a good thing :)
looks like what I would imagine a tiefling wizard to look like. Good Job!

Cool...I love the tattoos!!!

The wizard also has feminine proportions on his jaw. The wizard's jaw looks very slight and delicate when compared those of "square-jawed" heroes like Batman (http://www.nealadams.com/Sketches/batman2.html) and Conan (http://www.nealadams.com/Sketches/barbarians.html).
For a character who does not depend on physical force to get his way, though, it doesn't matter if his jaw looks "weak" compared to that of the average male.

Hi , .. sry that i have much to critizise, but thats why we have this forum =)
1st off all i dont like the horns, because they don't really look like horns.
then i think the mouth need a bit of tweaking. it looks like floating down.
next, i think the eyes are too big. they look nice but a bit too big
... the ears also need a bit of tweaking i think. they just look to straight.
but maybe u like him as he is. this is just my opinion.

Ta, glad you dig the tattoos :). Had more fun painting the skin than modelling actually....I know the skin could use some work, but I'm seeing it as a useful learning curve, so now onto something new.

Yes indeed it's why we have the forum, I'm here to learn, and thanks for your crits.
Good point about the horns. I wanted them to look like bony protrusions rather than typical horns. This guy is human but with latent fiendish elements, so these features are not as well-developed as you might expect. Large eyes are a perpetual problem for me, perhaps they just need to be more "lidded" ?
I don't know if I am gonna go and tweak this guy, but I will definitely take what I've learned (as well as the crits) and apply em to future projects.

I don't have problem with the horns and stuff. I believe that the "showing skull" gives it some sort of "cool factor".
It's just that the eyelashes are too long!
Also the mouth looks like he's about to kiss someone :surprised
On the other hand I like the "tatoos" and earring.
What about adding a little bit of "just-shaved" beard? :applause:
A lot of very tiny hairs on the cheeks, jaw and frontal neck :bounce:
welp if that's the case, great!
