Yo artist-pals, I need some input; anyone using Painter X on a dual-monitor format? Maybe I'm spoiled by Photoshop CS2's abilities in this regard, but it seems like Painter X is resisting the coolness. In CS2, you maximise the interface on monitor 1, and then have the ability to simply drag your art onto the big acreage of monitor 2... is there a way to setup Painter to do the same? Right now it seems like the art cannot pass over Painter's interface border...
Thanks for any and all input- newbie Marty

No, you cannot drag an image past the confines of the Painter X window. But you most certainly can drag the palettes over to your other monitor, freeing up one monitor to exclusively handle your image. You then just hit the Tab key to hide your palettes when you want full viewing of that monitor's contents (like a web page or tutorial, etc.)

Hope this helps!

I assume you are on a Windows pc, not on a Mac.

As CybrGfx says, you can't drag the document out of the Painter Window (I wouldn't mind being able to do that too). But you can enlarge the window to fit both screens if you want. Not ideal I know. But I have 3 monitors and normally have Painter across two of them with the pallettes on the third.

This a reply to the same question on a different forum (Painter Talk) and I'm reposting it here. Mac vs. PC, please, not again!

I might be missing the point here but why can't you just expand the work space across two monitors by just dragging it, (When Painter is not maximized, you can drag it anyway you want).
Save the original file with a new name, and you can have both files open at once. I do this quite frequently, especially when I'm doing some kind of global operation with the whole image. This is also a good area to do iterative saves as you can compare different versions of the file at the same time, even more than two.

There is no Mac vs. PC stuff here, at less not from me. Layouts are different in both systems and Mac and Win Painters are different too so it had to be cleared up .
I run both systems (in fact I prefer the Windows version for Painter 7, for example)so I cannot understand very well why people is so picky regarding to the O.S.īs Jeez.
For future questions, reporting about your specs is not so terrible.

The fullscreen mode doesn't work but you can still get that with just a painter window and stretch is out over your monitors...

enjoy!
