View Full Version : photorealistic 3d atmosphere surroundings ?

I’m currently looking for a plug-in for lightwave (or whatever) that lets me generate photorealistic 3d atmosphere surroundings.
All parameters like sun (moon), light (color, exposure), fog (density) clouds (movements, thickness, cover, density, change, velocity) should be animateable.
Any advice?

Animate everything, good luck figuring it out.

Another option might be vue's plugin.

There is also Ozone:


It states it's for LW 7 and 8, but maybe it works with 9.5!

if you can stand the rendertimes and have time to learn it, I would go for ogo taiki.
vue extreme or standalone and zyncing will get you there to pretty fast but probably a lots of hazzle getting the programs to match.

ozone3 ..well..I tried the demo but I wasnīt that impressed with it, and it seems that you canīt edit the cloud functions as in vue standalone, and you canīt use the metacloud technology, but download the pl version and see for yourself.

The difference between ogo taiki and vue or ozone is that ogo taiki takes is much slower in my experience and it is much more difficult to set up, unless starting with the scenefiles that comes with it and tweak those.

another difference is the type of fractals and functions for cloud density, ogo taiki can use any procedural available for lightwave, the best are the weather plugin from dennis p and vue
they are really poor compared to lightwaves procedurals that are specificly designed for clouds...strange isnīt it, the functions for density in vue are all based on old noise types more designed for texturing.
You can of course turn those of and only use the built in scale and noise for clouds in vue, those give a more realistic cloudshapes..but it seems that you canīt control that in ozone :(

another thing is that you in ogo taiki can use particle and ogos volume textures on to that..and be able to create billowing clouds raising and even smoke that reacts with objects.
theres no such thing available in vue or ozone.

Also in ogo you have a vast control over light and shadow and color for clouds that vue cant beat, but on the other hand vue is so much easier and faster to set up the air properties and
quality settings.
the quality of the renders on the ogo site is really poor unfortenatly..probably because of the huge rendertimes when setting the master quality to high or best.
