hi all,
i'm currently working as a 3d modeller in a game outsourcing firm and a concept artist as a freelancer.this has been goin on since past 1 n half yrs now.iv tried to keep my head above water but im losing interest in 3d(saying i had too much interest in it would be wrong too).

i love to draw plain n simple.i can draw challenging, creativly inclined works day n night without complaining and appriciate conctructive feedback.even boring work can do from time to time (i try to make them intersting at my level) but the problem is i dont find much work lik that here.everyone wants a 3d modeller or something in 3d.there are no good 2d animation studios too.im thinking of doing an advanced course in animation or automobile designing(2 of my interests) but again im not sure about them.if i dont do these atleast all i would want is to get a job someplace where i can draw (storyboard, animation, comics, concepts watever) and not asked to make 3d models(til the time you can make them by just drawing lines).im not sure how should i proceed forward or where should i search for this kind of work.i dont mind working outside india.this ques is definatly affecting my work since i cant find any pleasure in it.

i'd be thankful if someone can help me in clearing my head or give some good suggestions.

thanks,
Amrinder

Hello

Firstly try to see if they can move you around where you currently work, if nothing else you might get a little more of the work you want that goes down as experience on your resume\cv.

Barring that start doing work on your own for a demo that would show what you can and want to do. When you have enough put up a personal website directed at just highlighting your artwork. Make it easy for people in the business to check out your work.

Then you get to start shopping yourself about, don't go around telling people your looking to leave your current job. But start asking people you know about positions at other companies, and just let it be known in general your available if something opens up in the field you want to move into.

You could apply to companies in other countries as there would be less chance of your current employer discovering your job search (be careful not to approach firms your current place does business with, but try to develope contacts at those firms).

Good Luck Mr. D

Keep in mind that you could also freelance for whatever company around the world via internet if you want, so local employment issues aren't as important as it used to be.
