View Full Version : Wacom Grafiktablett advice...
odysee 04-26-2002, 06:06 PM Hi guys. i am new here and i ' d like to ask you for an advice.
I'm thinking of bying the wacom intuos2 A6 grafik tablett. i 've never worked with a grafik tablett and i wanted to ask how it influences your work in 3d or 2d. Will my work improve using the grafik tablett?
i am looking forward for your answers.
ciao,
odysseas.

It really is a lifesaver if you do 2D art (especially with Painter... DAMN that Painter program is cool with this Intuos!), and I enjoy doing 3D with it, too. With long modelling sessions my hand and fingers usually got quite sore, but it's just a pleasure with the pen! And it has three buttons so it can be made to work just like your mouse would, no problem there either.
I suggest you to buy one, but I'd say buy the A5 one. I'm quite bad at 2D, and never have owned a tablet before, but the A5 really is enough for me, and nowhere too big! Atleast in 3D, if you need very precise movements, smaller tablets tend to be more jumpy (This is a slight problem with my A5 too), except if you have very steady hand ofcourse ;)
So... go buy one and FAST! And if you can afford it, go and grab atleast the A5, you won't regret it

thanks for the advice maya man, but my budget for the tablett is limited. is A6 really so bad?
Oh no, I didn't mean it would be bad! Nowhere near bad, it will be a truly another world compared to mouse, but I was just saying that IF you can, you should buy one size bigger.
I'm sure the A6 will be very good, but it may start to feel abit too small for your liking after awhile... or then again maybe not.
If your budget is indeed limited to A6, go for it, it will change your way to do 2D and 3D art for good!
Oh and when you get it, be sure to test the Painter Classic that comes with it, you won't believe how lifelike the painting in pencils and brushes is in it!

hi,
a tablet can make your life much easier. in 3D you won't find many things there you can work with it (where it makes sense) but in 2D (graphic stuff, compositing and texturing) you will find your self producing much nicer results and in a shorter time. it's just the fact that it is more intuitive then working with a mouse.
ever tried to make a freehand horizontal line with mouse ? with a tablet it's so easy.
for the size i recommend an A5. A6 may be a little bit too small for some really fine graphics and A4 or greater is too large (for me). because the active field is so big you will have a great pen moovement. means you have a long way from one corner to the other. and sometimes this is a bad thing. so my advice is a A5 one.
for the budget guys, there are some tablets from Aptek which are really cheap. i haven't test them yet, but my friend has bought one. so if i had the chance to test i will write again
