CGTalk - Slow paint stroke

I just recently installed Painter X so I'm new to it. It looks great but my only problem is that when I make a brush stroke (with my wacom and even my mouse) the stroke drags very slowly across the canvas area. So basically I've completed the stroke and the brush on screen is still going. Obviously this isn't good for drawing/coloring.

I've checked the brush speed, which is up to 100, and I've done the brush tracking in the preferences so that it knows how I paint. Still it hasn't helped. I don't think it's my tablet because I don't have the problem in Photoshop.

Anyone have an suggestions or know what could be going on?

I have a Mac desktop and an Intuos 3 if that helps at all.

Since I don't know if this is mentioned in either of the above, another thing you can do to cut down on memory usage and speed up Painter X/X.1 performance is to disable the Enhanced Brush Ghost by unchecking the box:

Mac - Painter X > Preferences > General

Windows - Edit > Preferences > General

As a new user I had this a lot. Are you using camel hair brushes or any other type with the "feature" option? If yes, the most likely cause may be your feature setting is too low - which happens without your knowing it if you increase the brush size as they do not change together. I seem to get the best results with a feature just under 10% of the brush size. That is, brush size 40, feature 3.5 or thereabouts.
