View Full Version : abused metal suggestions
Cyborgguineapig 06-05-2003, 05:55 AM Hi I'm currently modeling a few low poly futuristic vehicles for a mod I'm creating and have found that my texturing skills are really lacking. Here is an untextured vehicle and I would like suggestions on how to get the rocket engine blasted look to it when I make the texture. Like the vehicles in the Fith Element movie, they are a bit dented up and dusty. They are fast vehicles but I want them to look like they have been weathered by time racing in hot conditions with dust, scrapes, rust, bullet holes ext...
I have Cinema 4D and would like to use bodypaint if that helps.

Sorry for sounding so vague in my description, I'm not too good at texturing things. I saw a nice tutorial on the internet about low poly texturing with BP but the author decided to make his spaceship have an organic looking skin so it didn't help me that much. Here is another example of what I'm looking on doing.

It would be easier to help you if you posted some pics of your efforts thus far.

Hm, I'm not sure what I was aking for myself. Its ok though, I just have to learn how to do it myself through trial and error. mainly I wanted suggestions on how people go about making dust, noise, wear and tear in thier textures.
I don't have anything to show because I didn't even start on the texture, I just wanted suggestions on the best process of doing it.

Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime.
