hello, ok so i know 3d animation and traditional 2d animation things.. but i was approached by a friend that is interested in animation but is more specificall interested in teh digital side.. what programs are used,, what programs CAN be used in conjunction with others...

do any of you know what, where to get refernce for that.. im talking cell type animation not flash/web animation type things .gifs etc..

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

well since i am asking this.. i may as well add my question
ok so you know those 3d/2d animation movies where they combine both.. needless to say they are put together in a compositing program.. but i guess i have the same question as my friend.. what program do they do the 2d animation in before they composit.. thanks

if you're doing it yourself then simply photoshop to create the stills and premiere to edit them together would do it. sine if the real 2D programs get real complicated and are often segmented into different modules for colouring and inking, scanning etc etc and are more orientated to being used by a big team rather than an individual. if you find photoshop a bit cumbersome you could try http://www.digicelinc.com/

also, another quite good one is called 'cartoon television program'

the big main one is 'animo' from cambridge animation systems, but you'll need a beast of a PC to run it, it's very complicated compared to digicel flipbook and it costs a bit too :P

rather then repeat myself, I"ll just posyt a linek to a thread that is on the top of this forum, it does helpo to try searching before posting. But seriously this one is a sticky at the top of the animation forum not sure how it was missed

One thing has changed, US animation has realeased a new version that has a much better workflow and a few less modules.
