I have to do a project for math class and was wondering if there's a way for Maya to make 3D fractals? Or maybe even hypercubes?

Thanks in advance!

there is a shader on highend3d.com for making mandelbrot fractals. Not sure how well it works. Id appreciate you sharing your results tho if you get it to work :)

The plug-in is compiled for Maya 3.0 or 4.0
AM LSystem NT v2.0:: as in highend3d:
By Adam Martinez
"Create fractal, rule-based geometry quickly and easily a full Maya implementation and interface of the Lauren Lapre LParser software. A redesign of the pvcLParser plugin, with added functionality and flexibility."
http://www.highend3d.com/maya/plugins/?group=mayaplugins&section=modeling

You can also use a separate program to create the models, such as Lsystem 4:
"L-System 4 is a program which uses text based instructions (seed files) to build complex objects. The program includes several useful functions, including an integrated viewer and a random seed file generator. These objects can then be exported in DXF file format (...)"

Thanks for the info! If it's compiled for 4.0, and I'm running 4.5, will it still work? I'm a Maya newbie and haven't installed any plugins yet. Otherwise, I guess I'll go with option #2, use a stand-along program and export to .dxf.

I'll post a link to what I come up with in the next week.

Thanks again,

Unfortunately, Maya plug-ins have to be compiled for the specific version at use.
