CGTalk - glow/laser materials in modo?

Hello there.
Recently I did my Obi-wan´s light saber (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?p=5371883#post5371883) and I wish to turn it on. But I can not make a glowing material. I try with luminance but it doesn´t feels right...

Any one could help me?
