I'm doing a lot of batch rendering. Before I render a new shot, I always have to manually open Maya and do a set shot, and then close it to run the batch.

Does anyone know where the set shot string is stored in Maya? I'd like to just manually edit that instead of opening Maya every time. There has to be a faster / more sensible way for my renders to go into the proper directory.

I'm not sure what you mean with "set shot" but if you want your images to land in a specific directory, use the -rd flag with render.exe
