View Full Version : Gi Settings for netrendering without cache
v-empire 09-10-2008, 02:53 PM Hi there,
could anyone give me a hint, how the Gi settings in R11 should be set up to render a flickerfree animation via netrender without precalculating a cache.
Thanks

Well a cache has to be calculated at some point, unless you use QMC only, but (not having tried it) I would have thought if you are not having any objects moving then you will simply calculate your cache on your local machine, set the cache to be "locked" and to auto load, or even give it the location to load from, and then send that to Net render (you might have to manually upload the cache file, not sure).

If you look in the help, under "global illumination/Gi setup/irradiance cache file", you'll find some explanation.
In short: if you don't want to precalculate a cache, don't upload one. The clients will do this for themselves, the server will distribute the first finished cache to all other clients.
