View Full Version : Merge thousands of files in one scene?
droon 09-10-2008, 07:39 AM Hey, I have this folder of over 1000 little 3d files that need to be merged into one scene, Any way to do this? you can't select more then one file when opening the "merge" dialog box.

find the files using the content browser and then drag and drop all of them at the same time into the viewport.

You might crash. There is a limitation in the content browser (V10) which makes C4D crash if you select to many at once. Workaround is to select less. If have yet to receive it, but V11 has been fixed in that respect according to Maxon's support.

Select all the files in the Finder window and drag them into the view/editor window. If they have textures then all the tex files must first be placed into the master scene file's Tex Folder. :)
(this is where multiple-monitors comes in handy).

On a PC Clone, I guess, a Finder window would be an Explorer window?

how about dividing the objects into 10 or 25 chunks(whatever works). Save those chunks as file 1, file2..... then make a main file and xref those files into the main file, that might work.
