Hello goodfolks!

I have created a scene with a flag that is supposed to blow in the wind. The Flag plane has a Reactor Cloth modifier and is included in a cloth collection. Additionally i have a wind action in the scene. After a LOT of tweaking i got a decent looking flag blowing in the wind when i use the Preview in Window function. But when i push the Perform Simulation button the wind stops blowing. The simulation is calculated, but the flag comes to rest after some frames and no wind makes it ripple. Is there an "Add Wind to Sim" button i need to press? Anyone have a clue on whats going on?

Thanks in advance to anyone with a clue!

Knut Karlsen

Edit/ Btw i'm using max 5.1 with reactor included.

I posted the same@discreet forums. The ruslt was that it was a bug  There is a workarund, but that requiers me to tweak parameters from scratch again and not use the "Preview in window" when tweaking.

Here is the file! Just do a "Preview in window" first then see if you get the same when perfoming simulation after.
PS. I'm using max 5.1

Hi Knut

I've look at your scene and there is definetely a bug, as you mention
the
behaviour in the preview is different from the behaviour in the
animation.
I've logged it as such and hopefully it will be fixed in future
releases.

Regardless of that bug, the flag is not being affected by the wind since
it
is too heavy. Try to reduce the mass of the cloth to a smaller value (it
is
now 2kg, try with 0.1kg). Doing so you should get a much stronger effect
of
the wind on the flag.

Let me know if this helps.

Cheers,
Paco
