Hi I apologise if anyone has seen this before I posted it in the wrong place so i'll give this another go.

My problem is when batch rendering maya 2008 only seems to render out two frames.

My settings are

rendering using maya software
start frame 408.000, end frame 600.000, By frame 1, HD720, production quality, rendering out as Targas, (have also tried jpeg, Iff, avi all of which haven't worked).
Have also tried to render in maya hardware but the quality is terrible.

I did try one suggestion which was save the presets of rendering from another scene and use them on the original however unfortunately that didn't work either.

I've tried so many different methods and have pretty much run out of ideas so can anyone help me because im really stuck?

Have you tried to set up a new scene with something simple like a sphere just to see if the batch render works on that? Then you can determine if it's something in your scene that maya is choking on or if it dies on every batch render.

I actually tried to save the presets from another scene and import them but that didn't work.
Whereas before I was batch rendering out a full screen size with the works in my scene I have cut the res down to 640x360 and changed the export format to TIFF and it seems to be rendering now (yay although still don't think i'll make deadline).
So anyway It must be something to do with the memory of my machine. I will definately have to keep this in mind for future projects. Thanks for your help on this.
