Ok you've got a decent start but there are things that will greatly improve your image.
First get rid of that checkered floor... just axe it. Make it flat white if you want but no checkers....
Second your reflections on your car don't match the environment.
The reflections look like the car is outside... which according to this pic it is not it is in more of a studio type setting.
So you need to change your reflection map. You also need to turn on raytracing to reflect that floor (which won't be checkered right :)
Your windows... don't look like windows. They need to be more transparent. If you made them gray because you have no interior which is what I suspect that's fine, but make them black not gray. You never see a car with gray windows... but you do see them with black.
So make your windows black, or if you indeed have an interior make them transparent. Put a fresnel shader on them and that will probably do the trick for you.
The angle of your pic is kind of boring too. When you do a studio setup like this you want to really show off that car so play with some different angles.... and see what you get. Mainly get closer to the car so we can see more of it.
Your paint looks ok, but I can't really comment because the reflections make it look bad.
So just change all that stuff and give us a more interesting angle and you will have a really nice image there

People start in different places. I think a popular place to start is the wheel wells (because a few tutorials start off that way I believe).
I usualy start with a side view (profile view) at the front of the car, and work my way to the back. I usualy stick some sort of 'dummy' tires (or the actual finished tires) just to keep my bearings straight.
If I'm going to be building a vehicle with full suspension, I start with the frame and suspension.
I usualy do the interior last, next to the headlights, trim, and other small parts.
Hope I didnt' steal anyones thunder. :D
