View Full Version : physical sky + batch rendering problem
ssspark 09-07-2008, 06:34 PM Hi everyone.
I was searching this forum few times but I didn't get the answer.
I have problem with batch rendering in Maya 8.5. I have animation with some polygon objects and few cameras. And I have MR Physical Sky and Sun applayed to the scene.
When I'm rendering single frame of the scene everything looks great, and there are visible all shadows and sun in the sky.
But when I try to render with batch render, the shadows and sun light dissapear and the scene looks like with default light.
I already check if the batch render changes the renderer to Maya Software, but it isn't.
Do you have idea, why this is happen?
Thnx.

Maybe you have some leyer override iff you are using passes. If you create sun / sky in perspective view and then decide to render the scene ffrom some other camera you would have to reattach the sky and the lens shader to that camera.

i have almost the same problem...
i make a nurbs background and texture ( out of space, black n some stars)
in front of the space background i make a polygon sphere and texture it earth
in front of the earth there is a camera
in front of the camera there is a point light
the camera i animate it from 45degree to 0.
the camera is looking up the space and slowly look to the earth..
after i batch render (maya8) i put it into after effect to render it out as quicktime (25fps,PAL D1/DV)
when i view the video there is some flickering of the earth..
the texture of the earth look like it is flickering (darker and lighter and darker and lighter)
how can i fix it?? it would be a great help.

i create a nurbs and texture it space (black and dot of stars)
in front of the space background i create a sphere and texture it earth
in front of earth is a camera, animated from 45degree looking up then look at the earth in front of it.
in front of the camera i put a point light 0.8intensity
when i batch render maya8 i found out that the texture of the earth is like flickering (darker then lighter then darker then lighter)
how can i fix it?
i use maya software to render it.
any idea would be a great help to fix it.

Ok.
Now the problem become different.
In batch render I can see the standard blue sky (which is for sure physicalsky) but I can't see the sun and any shadows. The scene looks like has no lighting, but the shaders are visible. When I add additional light, the scene looks the same. So it look's like some lighting problem in batch rendering...
Can someone tell me why in batch rendering all lights are gone?
P.S.
Sorry for my English :/

I think now is the time to reinstall maya :)

Ok.
I have just reinstall Maya, and batch render looks the same. Still no lights, no sun just little shadows of Final Gather.
I can't solve the problem.

Ok. So how to reattach the sky and lens shader to the specific camera? I think that everything is attached correctly becouse in RenderFrame by this camera everything looks great.
Maybe if you batch render there is need to add some flags or attributes?

If it's not a problem attach the scene here it will be much easier if somebody just look the scene and see what's wrong then to guess

Becouse I'm using .ma format to save scenes I made upload of the zip file to my server.
Link to zipped scene : http://www.borowiec.com.pl/animacje.zip.
There will be no shaders becouse files of my materials are located in other directory. But much important is to solve the problem why there is no sun and lighting in batch render.
I'll be greatfull for your help.

I did the same: I assign the standard Lambert Shader to everything on the scene.
In Render View in Maya everything is fine (there is a Sun). In batch rendering still there is no sun and objects are black though there has Lambert applayed.
Do you see the sun in batch?

Hi everybody.
As I started to talk in priv with Visualact I solve the problem.
When I was creating the scene I use some combined polygon mesches with different materials assigned to different faces of this objects. That causes many errors during batch rendering. Also connecting few shaders to one object is of corse wrong thing.
I've made those mistakes during my work and I've lost few days wondering what's wrong.
I hope this thread will be helpfull for some of guys with similar problems with batch rendering.
Thanks a lot to Visualact for support and great experience!
Ssspark.
