Here's a few rough sketches. Story will come with the final design. I didnt want her to look too trooper-like, hopefully the look and feel will be closer to the 4th sketch. btw, she wouldnt be wielding any guns or swords.

Final design should be out later.:D

Last thing i wanna do is to head into modelling without a complete and final design.

I've decided to go with a toned down design, just wanna make sure i finish this piece on time. There are details of her suit that has been left out, i wanna concentrate on her head gear, arms and feet as well overall body proportions. Finally i can do some modelling! :D

yikes! you guys are giving me pressure..:D but its all good i guess. I really want to finish this piece too. One thing i've learnt is to stick to a finalised design as much as possible. And thats one of the things that i've always failed to do in the past with my models...somehow they turn out looking different.

Here's the background story:

The year is 2999(yes i know very cliche :p ) and the world is splitted into 2 rivaling continents. Ashley belongs to the order that believes in freedom and liberty while her opposition is bent on world domination in order to exercise a total communistic reign. Warfare is often conducted using the help of wardroids and AI, man has total control of technology. In that world and age, computing has rose to a different level, processors the size of skyscrapers, etc. Buildings are often an intricate network of computer systems. As such, espionage is still muchly needed in warfare. More often than not, droids have not been able to employ rational decisions during such missions. Hence, the need for human espionage agents to infiltrate the enemy depth to gather information. Past agents have failed and so ..you, Ashley, has been activated.

How does Ashley works? i mentioned before she wouldnt be wielding guns and swords, what she has with her is some sort of transmitter on her right forearm that transmit data via wireless mean to her foe (everything that moves in the battlefield basically has a prog running it) everytime data is received, ash programs executable viruses that is stored in her mainframe(whatever!)

But the cool thing is, not every foe can be inflicted with any virus. nooooo.. what ash needs to do is to gather info and knowledge, with this info she would then cater different kinda progs or viruses to inflict on her robotic foes... So instead of having weapons, you collect pieces of data to formulate diff viruses/progz to use against the enemy.

Ok, nuff said. there's a sharp twist at the end when she realises that the enemy has other things on their agenda like total world annhilation(yes yes...cliche) and that the agency ashley belongs to has a part in this whole deal. What will she do?

Hope that was enough background for my character.

I'd like to see the sub-division rendered from another angle before I commit the following crit to stone:

The breasts seem to point out and up a bit too much, and maybe increase their mass a bit more (that's a personal opinion ;) ).

Now that I see it from different angles, I definately think it needs a bigger chest (Or scale down the waist section a little)... You've got these awesome curves, and the chest doesn't seem to hold up its end of the deal. From the front, they cause the hip-waist-chest "curve ratio" to be imbalanced, and from the side, they don't balance out the butt-chest ratio to well.

As for pointing up and out too much... That was just my imagination.

jocko-tks m8. point taken on the curves ratio thingy. I've pulled the chest out a bit and slimmed the back of legs and butts a bit as well. Tks for the crit! :thumbsup:

I forgot to tell you guys that she's asian. Anyway, this is how she'll look for now. Im moving on to other areas. If there's time i'll like to touch up her face though. :)

totyo-yeah the head is small. But have u seen the char designs for unreal? then female ghost warriors have small head(ok tht didnt really sound good) i wanted a more exaggerated look...u know..big thighs...but u might be right...i'll go see if a bigger head looks better.

Wow, Dom I don't know how you Box-modeler's do it. I take forever mostly because the only way I can model is poly-by-poly or manual spline caging...

Dang Dom, your modeling is sooo tight. She looks very feminine, but still able to kick ass. Wow, all that talent and you make her head too small? Oh, well, my girls head is too big, so I guess that we even everything out between the two of us right?

I am really looking forward to seeing how she ends up. I like the accessories you have on her. The robotics looks cool. I suck at robotics, so I'm probably going to wait a few days while I search for some of that stuff.

Lord Dubu- yeah she does kick high. with this boots hope, it hurts more when she does kick :D

snorthul- yeah i've made her head bigger by a bit. The robotics look is giving me a huge headache. Lotsa thinking time.

Anyway, here's an update of the rough shape of her boots. Details will be added in once a full basic model is out.

Hi Dom....Sorry for the late support,but I am happy I caught your thread,it somehow slipped threw the cracks until now. Well I like the Sub-D start very much,all looks well.:thumbsup:

The story is solid enough,perhaps in the end the character her self can flesh it out more with what she does within the game itself.

Nice figure,I think as for size ratios etc,etc... you can pretty much do what you want,that's the beauty of Sci-Fi/fantasy game creations,for the most part lot's of freedom. I actually would like to see a little more exxageration here and there,leg length,or lack of length,streatching or more squat,extra large feet/boots.hands etc,etc... Well she is your beauty I'll leave all that to you........but what you do have is a very nice start,looks promising,and it's certantly one to watch here in this Challenge.Have fun,and keep going with the very good work.:thumbsup: :beer:

point taken. once the basic look of the model is out, i'll see how i can add that exaggerated look in. Like you said, maybe heavier boots or something like that. But i'll like to stay on path first and try to keep as close as possible to my sketch. ;)

I did spend some time on the story, and there's so much i wanna tell. There's a sharp twist at the end that really excited me. But i realised that this will have to come as a model first. The magnitude of the story would be too much for me to achieve.

Look'n great so far, man.

My only crits, would be that she kinda seems off-balance, or is lacking proportional rhythm...I have no idea how to say that better. I'd try bending a few joints a bit, and maybe getting a feel for her center of mass. Of course, this is really just my opinion. Please take it with a grain of salt.

Modeling looks real clean other than that.

Keep at it, man. You're doing great!

She looks great! About the head being small, usually thats so you can have space for lots of fluffy hair. In unreal tournament, a big head is a big target(I'm working on some toon characters for fun and made the realization). Small heads make the character look taller, body seem bigger/stronger, but it becomes unrealistic past a point, while in real life lots of people and kids have huge heads.

Btw: what program are you using for this?

Havent had time to correct the off balance problem. Did a bit of her head gear.

Anyway, she doesnt seem to seem so off balance now.. my previous renders were done in orthographic view. For this render here, i had a cam set up. Tell me if she still looks off balance guys. Tks. :beer:

but some points i would change

why do the biceps and triceps stop 10 cm before the elbow? or is the ellbow not under that glovethingie (sorry my english :D)

another thing is that, her arms seem to be a little to short, in a "normal" case you can reach the middle of your thigh with your fingertips...

and could you please show us a picture from the side, maybe then its easier to help you with that balancing problem :)

and to give her a much more sexy shape give her higheror a little smaller boots :)

but i wish you good luck for that challenge you're doing a fine job!

I would add some folds in front of the socks, at the moment it's hard to say that she wears socks

and I would also say that the boots are maybe a bit too large

other then that I think that you are doing a really good job - keep it up :thumbsup:

I think she looks balanced,nothing to be concerned with. Anyways once you rig her and get her flexible that will be very a far away concern.

She is looking very nice,it's WIP,so for now I say you are doing a very good job.:applause:

I think what Neox mentioned about the biceps and triceps was that they appear a bit short,that perhaps you can elongate a bit more towards the elbows.It's quite minor, but would be a good idea to fix.

neox- hmm. about the biceps/triceps thing, i'll go fiddle ard and see if it looks better. somehow they look pretty alright to me. :p forearms are short probably becos her thighs are long. i wanted long legs in my design, not really to human realistic proportions but more of an exaggeration. As for the boots, they're far from what i had in mind, still working on them. they're supposed to look like sport shoes, the kinda slip em on look. :shrug: Tks for the crit.

IC4 - the socks would extend to inside the shoes, since i havent really refined the shoes, all u can see is the top of the shoes cutting her socks. but even then, i think wrinkles would be nice there...hmmm. Tks for the comments!

Great character, nothing as a naked chick to keep my atention on a screen! Anathomycally (wow did I said that?) looks right, it´s obviously a non 100% realistic type, as you´ve said tights are too long. But there are little issues that bug me:
the butt (yes, I start with the important parts) seems squared, too tall, make those cheeks rounder.
the tits (where inner beauty is) as Lordrych pointed out look too "sphere", place the nipples on them, it helps to get the shape. With those size they should hang more, be more saggy, me thinks.
I think the boots are too big too, and they don´t allow the ankle to rotate/bend. She would walk as a duck, a sexy duck.

I agree. Bring the...er..."butt-cleavage" down a bit. Also, you may want to pull the verts on the inside of her...um..."butt-cleavage" closer together. I think the cheeks look a bit far apart.

Hi Dom: I think she is very shapely,in fact very smooth &curvacious. I like the high tech gear mixed with the organic theme anyday of the week.

Your on to something very nice here.With your obvious skills as shown here I think the "Slight" Hand problem will be solved quickly.Just some toning down,sleeker look,the usual tweaking.keep her coming,she is one beautiful lady already,plus I love head gear.

Yow, really getting interesting. There's a dangerous balance to consider here... If you add too much she may become kinda "Borg-ish", not enough and she won't demark herself enough. The suggested spiky hair might be something good, depends how it is approached. I vote for a long-haired mohawk style falling to one side of the head... heh heh, just kidding. So far, apart from her extremely well shaped breasts, my eyes keep getting drawn to her wrist hardware and boots. I'm really curious as to what will be the final primary focus in this model. Planning on adding a lot more hardware?
All in all, fantastic job so far, will be watching this one closely...

i'd just keep the suit very tight and add creases in the right places to make it look realistic. if you do that you'll also need to smooth it out a little so it looks like it stretching over the body, for example a piece of cloth wouldn't follow the rib-cage so closely.

you don't need a lot of details and gadgets to make this one looks nice imo!

fist-yes yes. i intend to do that. it wouldnt be loose as cloth, but still it has to be tight..there should be seams across her boobs.

amazing model so far.

my 2 crits:

I think her mouth is positioned too low in her face.
And for your story: when there's espionage there's always stealth involved, so it would fit her better if her boots were a bit smaller and not so massive (for sneaking purposes). smaller boots would also more complement here lean and beautiful body ;)

for the rest: perfect work ....really great design :D (I especially like the idea with the knee-pads)

One crit/question... What are does wrinkles on the sides of her legs (over the knee and to the side of the hips)? It seems like that area is covered by skin and not cloth, so there shouldn't be any wrinkles.

Ok folks. I've done up some hair, honestly they look really unfinished, especially her ponytail. Do forgive the boots as well, gotta add more segments and correct some IDs.

What i do hope u guys could do was to give me some suggestions on the basic colour scheme and look for her.:D This includes her hair/skin colour as well. I was thinking whether i should have two types of metal for her gear..currently as u can see, i've assigned 2 shades of grey for her gear(forearm, boots and visor.), i think thats quite boring in an aesthetic point of view... so c'mon guys, just shoot. hai....i think you should consider her characteristic before u put a suitable color scheme for her....like what is her current status in her world...sharper brighter for higher rank, or maybe her color scheme is determine by her own personalities...you could add feminine colors but yet shows the toughness, speed, and abilities to perform like nobody could.

Overall a good piece of work.But the face is far to plastic,it needs more attention.The nose is a taste thing,I leave that up to you.The body and shape and modeling are nice,but the textures for the face need the most help or work,they throw off the rest as of now.Anyways a good entry.:thumbsup:

This is coming along well Dom.

The hair is looking quite good as is the rest. Two things you might want to have a look at are the skin shader... it looks too plastic. Try adding some falloff maps and reducing the specular highlight. Also with the proportions of the face I get the feeling that the lower half of her face could be more pronounced. Maybe bring out the jawline more.

Otherwise, good work man, keep going!!

Nice figure,body armor,modeling too is well done.I am not as pleased with the face,the mouth looks bitter,not attractive,but it could just be the expression you want for her.The textures need more realism I think too,because she is human not a cartoon.

This has turned out really good Dom. The facial expressions and action poses really sell the character. I still love those nodes on her arms, they suit her.

Only crit would be the hair texture looks a bit crunchy compared to the rest of the model. Other than that, it looks great!:applause:
