First post!

I don't do much modelling so I figured a good way to cut some corners would be to post here and get some serious feedback.

reference is a Warhammer 40K spacemarine.
first a wire.

and a render

long time since I've seen a warhammer figure, but this one looks really good from what I remember, make a terminator for the death wing with claws :D

Wow,

looks to me very good so far. I just found one geometry "error". Look at the left bottem side (from our point of view!!!) of the helmet, do you see the "crack"?
And by the way...which figure are you using as reference?

Hope I could help...

hehe nope I don't see the crack. But I'll probably find it when I open up the file to continue. Thanks for the encouraging words. Anyway, it's easy and fun to work when one have such a nice design to follow. I'm not into Warhammer 40K, never were. but it says "TERMINATOR" on the foundation so I guess that's what he is. And no there are no claws on this one but those can be replaced at a later stage. He is still in parts so I'll have to find the arms first!

I'm not really into modelling either, always thought it was daunting and hard. But I have recently found it to be quite pleasant. Funny how things change in life.

This actually means I might enjoy texturing. I'll give it a shot when I'm done. Who knows, maybe I'll like that too. :)

Btw if anyone cares. It's Max5.1 but you already knew that

Looks pretty good. I don't see any technical problems and I don't know what the real thing looks like, so I don't have any crits.

Hi again!

Hmm, after looking at it again, maybe its no crack, maybe its just the lightning. If so, then please ignore what I said. Sry!

The double stacked vertices strike again!

Looks cool. I dig WH40K models :) I saw another little kink in your mesh. At the top of the head, the arch over the top of the helmet there is a little bright spot, and a dark one above that, could be the smoothing playing a little trick on you..

Keep it up, textures will do the trick :)

just a small update. Mostly to keep me going.

The thing at the top of the head was due to "symetry" with to high tolerance setting for welding.
I havn't had a look at the bottom part yet. But I don't really worry to much about it. It will not be visible when the model is done.

So I started on the wings on the chest. The scull needs more work I know.

More to come shortly

it looks excellant, but one thing hit me : the head looks so big compared to the chest :/ So the head doesn't look "inserted" in the rest of the body, making the whole a little strange... However, very nice job !!!

I finally got a couple of hours to spare.
I'm not sure about the sausages on his legs. They feel to sharp. But I'll have to search for some good ref images. The miniature I have on my desk doesn't have the deatails...

Anyway here is the update.

Sorry folks.

I havn't worked on this for a long time so this image is really old.
Still it's a update :-)

You might be right about the scale of the head. maybe not I can't judge right now. Have lot's and lot's of work to do so It'll have to wait.

Thanks for you encouraging posts. If anyone of you have any good images of weapons. Please let me know cos I don't.

Still neds to do the texturing tho.

ah yes ! good stuff ! very nice modeling ;) I think his feet look too flat and the radial gradient on his shoulder should be modeled instead of just textured ;) But it looks very good !

You know what a terminator looks like, so i think it's toobad you just copy the original char, too close from the original terminator, because you could be more creative if you just consider the whole char as a big and strong warrior heavy armored and build it just as you imagine it :)

I'm aware of the feet and the fact that he has no back on his knees :)
Edges need chamfer and damages to the armour.
I'm not personally into 40K I only made it cos I liked the design. When I get the time and inspiration I'll probably go crazy with more details and personal equipment. And again. I regard this model to be untextured. It's only a quickly assigned basic textures to see how he/she might turn out in the end.

Maybe in a couple of weeks.

The lowerbody\legs look too small to me, But not like they should be scaled mabe just moved down so that the hip is lower Other than that keep up the good work
