View Full Version : Problem with FFD

Hi all,

Is it possible in max5 to somehow turn off the FFD modifier from the stack at some point of animation ?!
Actually, the problem is that when I apply the FFD(cyl) modifier to my loft object, the object gets deformed BEFORE I animate the control points :D
What I want is to deform the object with ffd at certain point of animation, and to have original (not defromed) object before that point of time .....
Hope I`m clear enough

Anyone,
Thanx !

You can't directly animate the on/off status of a modifier, no.

How about morphing? Apply morpher on your non-deformed mesh, and then use the deformed one as a target. Then morph to the deformed one and back at the appropriate times. That might work?

I don't know if you can successfully morph to it if you're also animating the FFD, but in that case I think you can snapshot the mesh each time it goes through a shape you want to show, and then use progressive morphing to get the full range of motion when morphing.

There might be an even easier method, idunno, this is just off the top of my head.

Tnanx gaggle,

I think your solution is somehow complicated, because I have animated ffds control points....
But when I increase the number of ffds points, I get very good result, ie a deformation is minimal.

Thanx again :)

You could also apply an Ease Curve, in the Track View. This is a very powerful feature, often overlooked.
