Haven't posted a WIP here before, so thought I'd share my current project and maybe get some feedback while things are still in the formative stages.

No textures applied yet. This is strictly a geometry test. My next step will be "ruining" it -- converting it from its pristine state to a ruin. When that is done, then I'll finally actually texture and light it.

For the record, this is a C4D 8.1 project. Texturing will be done to a great extent with ZBrush. Love that TextureMaster ZScript! Postrender work will be done with it, too.

Nice modeling work. Nothing to crit really. Can't wait to see it textured.

Well, I very nearly have the texturing done. I need to fix a bit of the piled dirt by the sarcophagus and rework the plant textures a little. I'm also planning to add some small butterlies or moths flitting around over the sarcophagus -- not entirely sure if it will look good or not.

But I think I'm getting very close to ready for the final render.

Thoughts? Ideas? Problems?

Really nice scene you have here western3d! Any idea whos tomb it is? :) Some crits ..Perhapes you could add a slight bevel to some of those hard edges..also it would be cool to see some vines creeping over the floor....lots of interesting lighting possibilities for this one....Keep up the great work and keep posting updates!!

Nice!

But you really "ruined" it when you textured it, added the details and final rendered it. The lighting in the untextured version looks better and the textures you applied are great, but way to colorful!

Remember its a tomb and probably completely gray because of dust and colors fading with time. You should consider this.

But besides that its really nice, have to see the new cinema for myself one day

Thank you, everyone, for your feedback so far!

I've taken most of the input to heart in working up this version. Textures have been faded, everything has been dirtied up some more, I've added dust layers to many textures, and have softened up the edges on the sarcophagus. I also finally got a texture on the torches that I think I like.

I have not tackled the final lighting yet. Also, vines are indeed in the future for this image. Always have been, in fact. But I'm going to add them in post-render with ZBrush -- the Snake Hook brush will make their creation a breeze compared to the extra render times and memory overhead that polygonal vines would entail.

Any additional thoughts? Now's the time! :buttrock:

Hum, the scene itself is very nice, but the texturing itself hurts my eye.

1. First of all the ground between the stones. All those green grass and stuff doesn't fit at all. Better choose a greyish stone texture here, too!
2. Second, all those leaves and flowers? In a forgotten, dark tomb? Unfitting, better try to work with leaveless branches, spiderwebs and stuff.
3. The idea moss on the coffin is mabe realistic, but the the color is unfitting.
4. The ceiling is brown, while the abutments are grey? Much too contrastful, better choose the same material here.

That is what caught my eye at first sight. Hope I could help...

Hmm. I guess I should point out that the column, dirt, and stones are due to a partially collapsed ceiling, letting light in and making it possible for things like plants and grass. The final lighting will make this much more apparent.

It's a forgotten tomb, yes. And by some miracle it has thus far escaped being looted. But it's not dark.
