Hey all. I hope you day is going well.
I am having a problem batch rendering my sprite particles in mentalRay.
When I preview render a single frame everything looks perfect.
The problem occurs when I try to batch render my animation.
When I batch render my particles in mentalRay they render and animate fine but I have having problems controlling the animation. I need to be able to either set the initial state or create a particle cache to avoid having to run up 300 frames until they are in the correct place.
I have tried the following things:
Creating a particle cache: The cache seams to store because in Maya when I scrub the time slider the particles animate forward and backwards correctly but in batch rendering the particles do not animate, they are stuck on the on frame. The camera moves through them and other objects animate correctly but they do not move.
So, I figured it was the cache that was causing the problems. I removed the cache and particles/emitter and rebuilt everything. Next I tried setting the initial state.
Setting initial state: Every thing looks great in Maya, The particles start at their intend place and emit perfectly. But, once again in batch rendering the particles do not animate, they are stuck on the on frame.
I am very confused and would be thankful of any help you might be able to provide.
