CGTalk - problem creating zdepth file

View Full Version : problem creating zdepth file

I have zdepth clicked in my renderglobals and it creates a zdepth channel if i select iff or rla but if i select tga or tiff it dosnt create another file holding the zdepth information. am i doing something wrong. does it save in another dir becides images. i am also rendering in layers so i dont know if that matters.
oh and i have maya 4.5

tga and tiff are both capable to create z channel in a seperate file. some tga versions have problems with that but that shouldnt come up in normal cases.

usually they should show up in the same render dir.

do you render with maya or mental ???

usually those extra rendered files go to:
renderData/depth
directory :)

there are also scripts on highend to help you get your zdepth channels as differnt files or something. i think people had problems with them in the iff file. i think i read that maya only renders depth channels as iff with batch render. i am sure im wrong though . but you could chek ou highend if you wanna browse what they have. ciao
