Here is a a link to a recent video tutorial (http://www.itsartmag.com/features/video-tutorial-dam/) I did for beginners to learn Corel Painter.
Introduction : Welcome to "Mood Painting 101". A video tutorial designed for beginners in the world of 2D digital art. In this video our tutor (Daniel Arnold-Mist (http://www.itsartmag.com/features/video-tutorial-dam/)) covers all the basics required to create a believable environment using Corel Painter. Brushes, shortcuts, light, shadow and many other useful techniques are covered.
Part 1: (The Basics) : Part 1 covers the basic interface of Corel Painter. Introducing the user to the tools and shortcuts required for a fluid workflow. Blocking in the basic tones and colours to create the "feel" of the piece.
Part 2: (Tightening the piece) : In part 2 the basic tones, shapes and colours are tightened to create a better feel of the overall image. Working towards the final composition. Adding details and form.
Part 3: (Light and shadow) : Part 3 covers "light and shadow", introducing the user to different methods for creating light and shade. Adding atmosphere to the piece is also covered in this section.
Part 4: (Foreground and final editing) : In the final section, we bring in a foreground element and add "life and interest" to the piece using different techniques.
Extra (Thumbnails) : In this extra video, the tutor covers the importance of "thumbnails". Four examples are shown to introduce the user how to quickly block in ideas for final pieces.
