Ok at the moment I am thinking of a game... I think my character is going to be female...

Two Ideas I have so far

1) The game will be based around the world of Cu Cuchlain (spelling?) the Ancient Irish Hero... It will involve being a champion and fighting other champions, Mythical Beasts and the Odd army. Perfect for a computer game really...

2) Choose one of the greek gods and try to become the top god at Mnt Olympus you do this by gaining followers making aliances, hurting opposing gods followers pretending to be another god and acting like a complete bastard etc etc.....

Anyways Which ever way I go I have a head in the works

As you can see the front looks good but the profile needs work??? suggestions welcome...

Wow you managed to knock up a pretty good head double quick.
The thing that stands out to me in the profile is the lower lip being further out than the top, makes the lower jaw look out of place.

Yeah I got a lot more work done on it.... Still like to hear your feedback...

Hi there,
its going great but i have a few coments:
I think that the lower lip can stay a bit further then upper cuz there are people with such anatomical solution:) the are two other things that i would work on. The first one is or rather are eyes. I think You could move them a litle bit inside the head, and the cheeks as well- i mean now the face looks a bit flat and when ypu move the cheeks it wont, at least i would do so.
Take care ane keep on posting

Good luck Kamil:thumbsup:

Thanks for the comments Jelwa - your right the eyes do look a little too far forwards. Meanwhile I have started some work on the body... http://www.midcoast.com.au/~rgcoy/art/GameIcon/game_icon_03.jpg

I know I am supposed to reference work first but I think I will get the basic model out of the way while I think about the particulars...

I think you should make here a bit thinner and taller, because now she looks a bit fat ;)

I want to get the geometry and details working in the right direction first... but for your interest I used a real female as a reference so the body has real not heroic proportions... Thanks anyways.

I am leaning towards the first Idea -- Maybe the Game will be called "Champion on Eire"... The woman will be an otherworldly charioteer like the one that tutored Cu Cuclain (Spelling?)...

Otherwise If I go with the Greek one she will probably be a goddess called Ker.

Anyways I have been working on the neck & Shoulders - I still have a ways to go - I would appreciate any suggestions.

Couldn't find any substancial informatiion on the goddess Ker or Cer apart from the fact that she personifies a 'violent death' So I am leaning towards the Celtic Idea...

I started work on a Chariot today... Oh yeah thats my updated Wings->Povray exporter working....

Ok got the body basically done - There is still much tweeking - I am open to suggestions/crits at this point so hit me with them....

I think I had better get to and do some reference art for the final at this point....

KayosIII

I have gone with the Greek Idea - The game about Godz -- The character is Ker one of the lesser known deities - she is the sister of Aries -- She personifies a violent death. I have given her a steed - Abrax the Night Serpent... I thought this would be appropriate the serpent being a symbol for female energy and also a creature who is extremely dangerous....

KayosIII

Some more work on the headdress ...
Abrax the Night Serpent is rumoured to have venom so deadly that mear contact with it would kill any mortal - even the gods are not immune.... Abrax however prefers to strangle its prey to death.

HI. It is looking good. Shold be a dramatic shot. My only thoughts are that the horns or spikes may look a little better if they tapper(how do you spell this?) back towerd the rider. Sure it is more likely the rider gets stabbed but it will probably look more natural. Perhaps you are going to deform them and I am just getting ahead of you. Nice job.

Hey Kayos, good job on the details of the body: muscles, bones...
Very realistic, like it very much.

The face does not look too feminine though. Well, she's a tough woman but could more attractive.

The position of the right arm is a bit odd I think, maybe cos there is an impression of no action. Like she's posing. You know what I mean right?

Anyway, keep up the good work.

Wrong picture -- will update when I get home -- Been having troubles with my phoneline.

Thanks - McFly --

A few people think that the face is not feminin enough. I think I need to check myself into a face feminising clinique... I wanted my character to look like a warrior rather than a bueaty but since the aim of this challenge is to create a character to sell 2 million copies of your game - I guess I shouldn't underestimate the power of sex appeal - I just don't want to get too cheesy.

With regards to the right arm - took me a while - I am right/left handicapped ... BTW You really need to see the actual picture I meant to post. The arm is in that possition because it is holding onto a cord tyed to the serpent I also expect it to be holding onto reigns attached to the head gear. I would like to get further feedback from you.

PLoty : Thankyou and I definately will

here is the image I meant to post
http://www.midcoast.com.au/~rgcoy/art/GameIcon/game_icon_18.jpg

McFly

I think even if the right arm is holding a cord, the elbow should not make a 90 degrees angle but more a 120 or more to have more control over the snake.

Check this pic here (http://www.erichorgan.com/images/riding.jpg) or this one (http://www.gtriding.com/pics4/riding.jpg) which illustrate what I mean.

Could not find a pic of someone riding a snake though! :applause:

Keep it this good man!! :wip:

good job, but u should have put some wire of the woman during the modeling... low poly, construction etc...

KayosIII
07-07-2003, 02:25 AM
Thanks for your help - McFly I will either loosen up the arm like you suggested or tensen the muscles in the arm to show that it is an unatural postion....

Erik I have a wireframe of the current model - Does this help

Ok I decided to make some cloths as per the reference pics --
http://www.midcoast.com.au/~rgcoy/art/GameIcon/game_icon_21.jpg

Also I would really appreciate it if somebody could look at the heads at the start of this thread and give me some clues on how I would make it more feminine....

Virtuoso
07-10-2003, 09:13 AM
I think to get her more feminine from this point you would have to reduce chin size, pull it in a little.raise the cheek bones abit, and narrow the bridge of the nose a little. Also create a litle more of an almond shape to her eyes.

Just some tweaking and you have it close.Good luck,I think it's already quite nice, but with a little more time and tweaks it will still be better.Overall a nice effort.:applause:

Hey Kayo's, nice model I dig the whole thing! How were you posing the model, in Wings or Realsoft?

If in wings, how exactly do you go about it? Are you building her into the pose or modeling her then using magnets or something to move her?

And finally, are you going to finish her, or was this just for the challenge?

KayosIII
07-13-2003, 12:58 AM
Modeled and posed in Wings3d... The hard way - I modelled in the twins position with a virtual mirror.... I then Posed the model using Rotations (right click so you can choose a pivot point) and used tweek to get the joints looking right....

Finish? - what do you suggest needs to be finished. There is tweeking of the face and a few other parts The character isn't supposed to have hair- Ok thats a definate maybe

I just meant her armor, the drawing had her with a mask/helmet. The models are great and look done, but you could always add more stuff- jewelry, an extra weapon, things like that.

KayosIII
07-13-2003, 08:42 AM
Yeah cool - It does look a little bear now that I think about it... I was never sure about the helmet but I will give it a go.... Some nice gold armbands could look good and a nice curvy dagger....

Anyways I have decided to continue with this one... I want to get my work to a professional standard so If any of you can see anything that is preventing my work from looking professional go nuts ... :)

you know I tried Wings3d and when it opened the Text for the menus and so on where like size 3 font!! COuldent read at all or anything...owell back to LightWave :) thoug one thing I noticed it looks like you make half the model then mirror it and weld. Well on the serpent I can see a weld line and it's kind of distracting. The female doesent really have it now but the serpent does. Oh you do know you need to convert it to Tris if it's for a game right? Unless it's part of an .avi custscene then it's fine that way.

KayosIII
07-19-2003, 03:06 AM
With Regards to wings3d try Edit->Font from the menu's -- I am assuming you have a very high res screen. If you can't find a suitable font - post the official wings forum or the wings forum here about the problem.

There is no seem on the serpent The line you are seeing is muscular detail. (Obviously I need to do it better)...

It is designed for a cut scene (like all the models in this section of the Challenge)...

Anyways thanks for your comments.
