Great compo. The picture is awesome Oo

I have only one question: if you use Blender, why don't you use the Gimp ? :p

Perhaps for the same reasons as me, it's very backwards. I honestly really really tried to start to use that instead of PS.. But no matter how much I wanted to get used to it, I couldn't. It simply was too awkward.

To answer your questions:
- haven't thought about a tutorial on this one
- i'm still learning blender, but the learning of the basic usage/understanding needed the freetime of about a month (without any 3d experience before)
- blender isn't that much of a problem, it is more the artistic stuff itself, like colorpaletts, composition, gamma correction and all that

Hey Soenke,

congratz to this piece of art :) I really like the composition and the overall feel. It's always nice to see that artists can achieve stunning images with blender. I've been using blender myself for quite some time and still kinda feel "home" when I do something with blender. If that makes sense ;)

Bin gespannt auf deine nächsten Arbeiten! Gruß,

Matti

Where you faund inspiration for your creation?

Got inspiration from references, especially the works of Pieter Brueghel the Elder were very good.

Which artist do you prefer and inspire you with their arts?
None in general.

Have you make some sketcth before you start to work on your model?
No sketch or concept, just started and hoped for a nice result.

You demonstrate that a good artist can do Art with any tool. I don't know if all the distinguished 3D artists can do the same quality art without commercial software.

I got my references from the www and i used them for having an idea why oriental looks oriental. The actuall source for the inspiration for the composition and the different image elements is unknown to me ;).

edit:
creating proper wires would take a while so be patient :)

Hey,

Nice image, you did a great job making blender look good...people think that just cause its freeware means that it's no good - quite the contrary, blender is a very professional program, and only keeps getting better! I also would like to see some wires, and am curious about your settings on the ocean. Keep up the good work, and congrats on winning the BWC!

Tim

Your artwork is incredible, but in my opinion the fact you did it in Blender takes it to a new level. That's amazing considering I can hardly make a cube in blender. I don't understand people who say the Autodesk products are the hardest to work with ;).

I find this very interesting. I keep staring at the "tower". It has one of the most beautiful color shading I have ever seen. The image itself does not have that much of different elements in color-sense, but it's still massive and beautiful. Not much else to say :)

Great all around image. Noticed a huge mistake. the perspective of the building on the left does not work. You have it going to the ledge she is standing on. There is no way that turret/piece of architecture could go from that height and end up where she is standing. I would just have the ledge go off the left side of the image and the turret be behind it. Thats it take or leave-cant be the only one who will notice though. Make it a great image.

This piece is very well put together. there is a story to be told and it seems to draw the person right to the focal point. You're eyes wander to take in a good view of the surroundings but they always find themselves right back where they need to be. Excellent work. Shows just how far blender has come.
