View Full Version : Stan Winston Tribute: Sarris: Galaxy Quest

I am going to be joining late in this challenge... I really wanted to participate at the start just because of Stan Winston but I had to get rid of a lot of work first to actually put some serious time into this challenge.

Right now I am going to start of with Saris from Galaxy Quest and just do a Bust considering the time. Would love to do the whole body though but I might do that after the challenge so I don't rush it.

Here is what I have done. Not much so far but I will be putting some serious time on this in the next couple of days.

I have to admit that this movie is one of my guilty pleasures. Model is looking great.

Itsgallus: Thanks, I'm hoping to get a lot of good progress done during the next few days.

Jay-Mo: Same... this is also a guilty pleasure of mine and one the reasons why is because the characters are awesome in my opinion. The design for Sarris has so much attitude.. I just love it.

oliveira: Thanks oliveira, I really like this character too. There' so much to choose from Stan Winston's creations. I love your progresson all your icons so far.. they are coming along great!


Here is my progress on the Sarris's head. So far I just got all this into zbrush. not much real sculpting done really, but once I get everything else in there I should start scuplting really soon.

There are still proportional issues to dela with but I will do that once I get all the other elements in. I am at work at the moment butonce Iget home I should post the other screenshot of him.

I agree, great choice (one of my favorite characters as well, he just commands attention when he's on screen...great design) Nice job getting his likeness right away.

His skin should be a blast to do in ZB.

StevenEgan and Sirhcnait: thanks guys for the comments, I can't wait to Zbrush also I just wanna get all the major elements in there so i can get a clearer impression of his personality which will help me sculpt the overall likeness of him.

Here is the oher update, I didn't get to Zbrush as i hope this past few days because I had to do a lot of other things, but i think i got enough elements in there to start bringing them into zbrush to start detailing, so it should be fun.

That armor is going to be a blast to sculpt! I'm going to have to give this character a go some time in the future. He's just so cool.

Here are some updates on details for the head. Still a lot of work to do there and still haven' started on the chest and shoulder pads which I really want to do. I really wanna get some of these details done prettty soon so i can start poly painting soon.
