View Full Version : make normals face all the same direction
katon 06-03-2003, 11:08 PM is there a way to make all the normals flip the same direction without haing togo and individualky selct the normals i need to flip. so i wwant to be ablt to select the polygon and tell them to unify to the same direction all over. i cant seem to figureout how to do this in maya. thanks

under one of the poly menus theres somthing called "conform" i think that does it

hmmm i think i tried that but i will have to again, naybe i did someting wrong, will post back once i get home if it works or not, thanks for the suggestion.

That should do it...
select all the faces and run it. Of course of the majority of your normals are inversed, it will inverse all of them (then you can do a reverse normals).
Also, it is sensitive to separate pieces of geometry...ie: it'll conform each piece individually rather than the entire bit, so one piece may get reversed, while the rest are 'right'. then you just have to reverse 'em and you're set...
