Hi all!

I have this friday an exam about Programming and Flash mx. My teacher already give us one question for flash. We have to create a flash where the moon turns around the earth. The earth has to turn to and the moon must disapear when it is after the earth. Can anybody help me out on this one plz? A tuturial, somebody who already made this, everything is welcome!

Thx in advance

Here you go. Made this really quickly, so please don't critique the artwork. ;) It needs timing tweaks and improved artwork, but I think you can use it to get the general idea.

This doesn't have to be actionscript based animation, does it? Because this sample is straight-up timeline based.

Hope it helps.

Arg!

Does the swf at least display for you? I can't believe how difficult this is being for such a simple movie.

If you can see the swf and this is what you're looking for, let me know and we'll go over how to build one quickly.

Glad to help.

1) Create a movie clip. If you'll double-click the earth MC in the FLA, you'll see it's a movie clip with the earth turning in increments. Basically it's just a series of drawings set to loop continuously. You're welcome to use them as a guide or just to color and change and make your own. (The trickiest part is finding a source to use to know what to draw on each frame--so you can have this one as a source).

2) Do the same thing for the moon--you can tell I spent even less time on this one than I did on the earth. ;)

The rest is just using a motion guide for the arc of the orbit, and using one layer above and one behind the earth so the moon seems to pass in front of and behind the earth.

A nice touch would be stars, stardust, and galaxies in the background....maybe a glow on the moon.....clouds over earth....:D

If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to try to help. Again, feel free to use this in any way that helps you--up to as far as you are comfortable with without feeling like you're cheating. ;)

Post it up when you get done. I'd like to see how it looks.

It went brilliant! thx! but on the exam he had a little suprise for us left. He wanted that we made the earth move with a mask layer. But i dit a great job anyway. I would like to show it to you but we couldn't have it at this moment. Maybe after all the exams are finished. Ow and btw on the flash i had 25/25 and i got 3 bonus points because it looked so great and i added a lot of details. (made the moon smaller when it went after the earth and i had a nice, realistic background.

So thx again!
