Well hi erik..

The sketch reminds me of the skull from he-man but a very futuristic clothing style ;) It seems like it's going to be brutal ;)
Nice sketch too..

By the way, your nick (or name) erik means a juiceful fruit in our language, Turkish. And I love it.. So there's a plus for you, you're my favorite for now ;) ;) :scream: :bounce: :bounce: :buttrock:

Sincerely

06-05-2003, 11:57 AM
Seems that post is going to be the official CGTalk' Bar ...!!

Like Vladvrz said, lots of artists find their inspiration and their creativity under the influence of substance (illegal or not)

Hope that forum isn't animated by a group of drunk people !!
Imagine : about 40 000 guys that could now acknowledge in the this post of Erik the viking, their love for the local drink of the country they live !! ;) It could be interesting !

Is there any french Breton who could make a tutorial on "How to model a bottle of cider" or "How to create fluid of chouchen" ?

Ah..... Stop joking for the moment : I'm waiting to discover the begining of the modeling... :p

antnik
06-05-2003, 12:47 PM

I've been in greece last year and tasted Ouzo, it was good and it's similar to another french alcool name Pastis, but pastis is stronger

Bike again? you're a big bike fan!

Erik
06-06-2003, 11:44 AM
Humm Ouzo is like pastis, good news, thanks Dr. Jones ;)

Virtuoso
06-10-2003, 08:50 PM
He is coming along very nicely Erik....Tough,rugged,square jawed. But won't he be catching bugs with that open mouth while riding his bike.......;) :p ?But he is tough right,so I figure he will just swallow them with no thought what's so ever.:)

As usual I am looking forward to up-dates from you,I think this might be even better than your other Rider/bike challenge entry.Very good thus far Erik, keep up the usual great effort.

Erik
06-11-2003, 08:45 PM
A little new update... i ve many work again on the bidy and on the arms ;)

Delapouite
06-12-2003, 08:09 AM
Will the scene take place on the top of a cliff ? Because your hero seems to be in posture to practice bungee jump !! Or maybe he's just walking and is too drunk and fall next to the exit of a greek bar where he use to drink Ouzo every night...

Joril
06-12-2003, 10:58 AM
I think the ears and the pinches in the arms needs some attention. Maybe check some proportions aswell.

Franky
06-12-2003, 12:07 PM
Pretty generic work. But still good,I think I agree with Joril thoughts. But could be all good after you work more.Bike should make things better too.Nice work still.

Erik
06-12-2003, 06:31 PM
Thanks for your comments.
As i said before i ve many work again on the arm, and youc onfirm that fact ;)
Delapouitte, no sure he will not be at the top of a cliff, but you will see after that he is in a combat action

DimitrisLiatsos
06-12-2003, 09:19 PM

Dr.Jones
06-13-2003, 10:35 AM
I think the ear need to be lower.

Are the veins on th arm modeled or bump map?

Erik
06-13-2003, 10:45 AM
There only modeling at this time...

I think you're right for the ears Dr.Jones, i will work on again.

janhath
06-13-2003, 12:10 PM
Oh yes for sure, the ears should be lowered, minor thing to do,luckily.I like the guy already, with some fine tuning a then textures he will be really nice.Bumps for the veins would probably be your best bet later on.Nice job so far .

Erik
06-13-2003, 03:02 PM

really like the shape of the bike

what could need some work is the armor and the cloth of the character. at the moment, for example the belt looks like it's part of the character and not a seperate object.

DimitrisLiatsos
06-18-2003, 07:19 AM

06-24-2003, 03:52 AM
This is really cool looking Erik! But I would definately like to see some type of wheel on those tires. If not, maybe bring the suspension system in so you dont have that long bit of cylinder into the centre of the tire.

Just a thought.

Jungle_Tintin
06-24-2003, 04:05 PM

Very nice texturing for the motorbike. I really like the low tech design...:applause:

Sharky
06-25-2003, 07:28 AM
Et ben voilà ça prend bien forme !
Yes .... the texturing is really good, I wish I can do that but since now, I have never done such a nice texture.
Waiting for the next step : texturing the complete man model !

Virtuoso
06-25-2003, 11:42 AM
Together at last.......Nice to see.Now for some extra attention to the details and final polish.

And yes Erik.....It's France that I will roar through with your creation,LOL.Normandy to Monaco sounds nice.:p

06-27-2003, 08:40 PM
Hi everybody, i have work a little bit on the background of my scene... i will update later, i must work on it again before to update, but here you have one of my bump test for the head of my hero, hope you like it ;)
i will begin the face texturing soon... i will not use any photograph
to make this texture, only procedural as for the bump map ;)

http://perso.club-internet.fr/erikg/images/bump01.jpg

Martypt
06-28-2003, 04:43 AM
I like the work for the most part.My only crit would be that you should have created the character in a "Neutral" pose and a neutral expression for the face. And then applied morph targets for the different facial expressions and also seperate poses on and off the bike.Maybe with time you still can?
Anyway's it;s still a good looking piece of work.Just try out some more poses if you have time.:wip:

Erik
06-28-2003, 07:56 AM
Hi martypt.
The only way i use to modeling my hero in the final pose is to win time, cause i have not really lot of time to create many other morph as usual.
As the other challenger, i work during the night cause during the days we must modeling for the company or for school for the younger ;)
but i promise if i have time i will remake this hero in a davinci pose to create an animation.

Erik
06-28-2003, 09:33 PM
Hi all.

Here is a new update of the textured face.

http://perso.club-internet.fr/erikg/images/visage03.jpg

Ionized
06-30-2003, 03:35 AM
Nice skin shader and the facial features are very exxagerated. I like it.

The jaw does seem a bit square, but maybe thats intentional. And I think the lips could use some more definition and come out from the face a bit more. But again, perhaps it's intentional. Thats the beauty of toonish stuff.

I'll be looking for this one at the finish line:beer:

Scottosh
06-30-2003, 06:06 AM
Well overall I like the bike and the character too is looking good.I think you should tone down the cracks around the eyers a little, and give him a touch more of pink to the skin,it's alittle too orange. But all in all it's a good overall job here.

DimitrisLiatsos
06-30-2003, 07:31 AM
Hi Erik !!!
u are going for a realistic texturing on the face Erik...Nice so far my friend...just tone a little bit the bumping in those wrinkles..just a thought...

Virtuoso
07-01-2003, 09:32 AM
OK it is getting there.Soon he will be racing on his bike against Dimi's creations. It will be fun to see.

I would jut soften the facial wrinkles, have then blend more in the skin gently.Put smaller almost un-recognisable fissures or hairline cracks to go in between the larger wrinkles to give more balance.Decrease the wrinkles here and there.

You should feather the stubble(beard) on the face. You should put random light spots on the skin textures,it will soften the look.

Look more into layer tools and filters in PS.Play around with these.Use a blur/gaussian Blur with a large radius to soften the texture.

Ok it's good, but just some more tweaking and you will get there.Play around learn, experiment, you are not far off. It's all looking good,I look forward to seeing the next up-date.Keep them coming.

Virtuoso
07-01-2003, 11:28 AM
Hi Erik once again.............

I also wanted to mention more about the area under the eyes. Intricate detail is needed here, this will bring more life to the character's all important eye region.just under the eye region is vital. You need to work on that area.

Paint a series of small white bumps, make them random, don't make it look planned.Always make mulitple strokes, and use low exposures while using the Dodge tool. If the exposure is too high the lines/wrinkles will have quick ending edges, you don't want these, you want them to end smoothly, gradual. Then with the burn tool with an exposure of about 25%-30% no more paint strokes between the light spots,to create the fine lines or delicate creases. You want more suttle cracks, gradual start and finish points. Also add random dark lines for some ageing.

OK,you really are quite close,I just want to point out some extra thoughts that might help you a little.I like yyour guy,he just needs an extra eye from time to time, like we all do.;)

Ok go play, tweak, have fun,see you soon.

Erik
07-02-2003, 10:58 AM
Hi all ;) here is a little new update...

Virtuoso: thanks for all you're help, i try to understand all your comments and i use it to modify my hero, but the next face i will do will be surely better i think cause as you say it i ve some problems to resolv... in all the case continue your comments, they help me.

Scottosh: i ve follow your coments for the crack around the eyes... thx

DimitrisLiatsos: hehe you have notice the same as others my friend... i ve correct this... i hope!

Ionized: thanks for your comments.

I ve many work to do on the face again, i will try to do the more i could cause i ve many work to do again on the body and on the environnement i ve begin... all this job before the Deadline...

Good job with closed mouth or not.;)

Wilson-3d
07-02-2003, 02:22 PM
Hi. Nice texture. The transition from the lips to the skin is great. I think people often have trouble with this. I like the wrinkels around the eyes a lot. The bump may need turned down a little and I would add a little of the bump to the area under the eyes where it stops. Looking Great.

Jungle_Tintin
07-02-2003, 04:54 PM
Good job sir!
Really better texture for the guy face.:applause:

This is a really good job.....
VOTE FOR ERIK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Virtuoso
07-03-2003, 04:51 AM
Yes Erik..............Much better,it again has improved, looking better every time.Still go for more, tweak and twist and play.Soften the skin a little more, just use the burn tool around the higher seams of the wrinkles, use a 30-35 brush diameter,it will smooth them, soften the whole look.Very big improvement,he really is going to look very good on that bike.

Keep it going,it's going better each day.Good job.

Hey Eric...you will never be huppy with your job... why? because you are an artist man...and for an artist...there is no end to any work. Nice to meet you Eric.. Take a rest untill the next challenge.
