Title: 'Little Nellie'
Name: Steve Pedler
Country: United Kingdom
Software: CINEMA 4D, Photoshop
This is the famous autogyro from the James Bond movie 'You Only Live Twice'. The main problem with modelling this was the lack of good blueprints. The ones that are available seem to be derived from the instructions to a model kit. So this model is partly arrived at from DVD screen grabs and various reference images around the web. Mostly modelled in Cinema 4D, with some mechanical parts in MoI.
So it's not a fully accurate model by any means, but it's the best I could arrive at. Shown in showroom condition, now I'll have to dirty her up!

pretty fine model work ;)
well I think you can now add a pilot also and do some composition to present a full flying scene. It might look nice :)

I'm fairly certain one of these flew over our garden (near sunny Hull) last week.....the box-art for the Airfix kit is an excellent image and might prove useful for reference?

looks pretty good although the first thing that struck me was the height of the windscreen. It looks a lot smaller in the film.

I'd certainly like to see one flying one day. Regarding reference images - in fact, images themselves aren't the problem - it's the details of how the thing is constructed. I didn't realise just how low quality DVD grabs are - very low res and difficult to see any close detail! I've got a few high resolution images from what looks lke an air show, but most images are grabs from the movie.

Yes, those are the blueprints. You may have a point about the windscreen height. I had to use the 'blueprints' from that site for this, and that's how high it is in them.
