I was wondering if there was a way to lock the translations on an object. I have some controlers set up for opening and closing the hands on my character. If slide the controler up to 2 the hand closes at 0 it is open. Is there a way I can set it so the controlers will only move from 0 to 2 in the one direction I want, and not at all in the other directions?

open up the object's attributes in the attribute editor and click on the first tab to the left. expand the 'limit information' menu and find the section for translation. from there you will be able to set the minimum and maximum translation values. if you want to lock a certain axis from moving set its min/max to zero.

also it's a good idea to lock and set these 'zero' channel's to unkeyable through the channel control: Window > General Editors > Channel Control

hope that helps
