A-Boy-From-Heaven 08-30-2008, 03:40 AM Yep. I want to know how long it takes for someone with a modeling background to become a good character/organic modeler?
Thanks!

It really depends on the individual. If you have never studied anatomy and figure drawing before, it would take you longer than those who has, but never did any 3D modeling before. Learning to model is actually the easy part, while learning anatomy and figure is the hard part.

Thanks a lot Lunatique! I really like you being always informative.
I have done some little anatomy studies lately.I don't know how much I should take anatomy seriously. coz I think there is difference between a character modeler and a figurative artist like Stahelberg. Sure enough by saying a "good character modeler", I don' mean a great artist like him.
For a start, I just wanna reach a point to find myslef a position in minor industires making characters for animaton.

Well, the only way to learn to become a character artist of any kind (2D or 3D) is to study anatomy and figures. There is no way around it. Without understanding how human beings are structured and how a human expresses emotions with body language, or how a human body moves and balances during various situations, you'll never even be a decent character artist.
