SheepFactory

Uh...I never finished the game but I dont recall seeing evil angel looking things in the game. Is that added for the movie?
Thats what I keep thinking SheepFactory!! What on earth are all the supernatural flying creatures? Those weren't a strong part of the story in part 1 or 2 of the game series. Only thing thats not sitting right with me otherwise it looks excellent.

That's what I'm thinking. Why introducing new elements like that when Max Payne already had so much going for it?
Also, I think it would've been smarter to shoot the flick a little differently, not just like your regular action flick. Maybe taking a clue from Frank Millers Sin City, but desaturating the images and not going completely black and white - the comic panels already always were photos that were heavily comped.
It doesn't really look like what someone who's been a fan of the games would expect.

the "angel" things were the valkyries that the drug addicts were always reffering to when talking about taking the V drug and having the shakes whilst repeating "i have tasted the flesh of fallen angels"
its metaphorical imagery. Its not supposed to be a constantine type thing (where max interacts with them)...they're the angels of death and the imagry is triggered by the drugs from Aesir Corp.
The movie is on spot with everything, some people just didnt pay attention to the game's depth and were just happy to pew pew thru it.

Spot on. I remember the game having all those weird drug induced sequences. It be weird not having them in the film.

Felt a bit like "the Crow"
Buggy166, you know your stuff man :D
I just didn't remember most of story since I played the first game 7 years ago, or maybe more.
And obvioulsy, the trailer looks damn cool. It's totally spot on!! Go Remedy, go! (and they're gonna make so much money from game rights...)

That's not the issue in my mind. This movie looks like a lame attempt to take a superb script and turn as much of it as possible into visual fx, no doubt because the guys behind it thought the script could be 'enhanced' with a bit of hollywood movie magic. While I'm all for vfx, there are times, like this, when I'd prefer to see less of it. Part of what made Max Payne work as a game was the strong sense of reality behind everything that took place. The only exception to that were the 'maze walking' dream scenes, but in many ways they were the weaker parts of the game, because they departed from reality too much. The thought of a movie version of Max Payne (with an oddly cast Payne) and an over emphasis on dream sequences leaves me pretty unexcited about the film.
Maybe Mark will prove me wrong with a stellar performence, and perhaps the script will remain intact and strong, but... I'm doubt it.

yea, true enough and i agree on that point. i hope they dont overdo the cg stuff unless it ADDS to the realism or to the climax moments in the movie.
although i woulda liked to see a bit more sin city type stuff implemented to make it more film noir instead of action.

I remember when I first played through the game how awesome of a movie that game would make. I hope they somehow implement all the subtitles and use the one liners, those were sweet.

My favorite 2 games of all time....I really hope they don't screw this one up! It is exciting....but I didnt see anything in the trailer that looked at all like any of the iconic game scenes.....hopefully it will be great.......if it was just a retelling of the first game it would be amazing....but obviously its not :(
