View Full Version : Cinematic Game Icons - Character - chucy©
chucy© 06-03-2003, 10:40 AM oh my god,
it´s my first thread on cgtalk, ever,
and also my first challenge.
i´m so excited
i´m so excited
i´m so excited
so Cinematic Game Icons
My idea is to make a character like a underground fighting ninja,
in a time of robots (ca. 2040).
But the character isn´t human, it´s a haked robot, who is searching his master. On his search he comes in contact with kriminals and other underground stuff of a big city. During fighting against every thing, he get´s to know himself. By the time he realise that his program doesn´t use the full capacity of his body.
Because of that, he will get new skills during the game.
It will be a action adventure game like Half-Life (?) called:
Urban Ninja
sketches coming soon (very soon ;) )
sorry for my very bad english, but i´m sure you´ll understand the main parts of my idea.
so i hope i didn´t make too many mistakes.
Best of luck to everyone! :buttrock:

chucy©
06-03-2003, 01:40 PM
thank u all!!!
:arteest:
now lunch in germany is over, and i´ve got some new sketches to post.
from a different angle ;)
btw i´m facing my first problem: the belly(?)
on the right i´ve drawn a detail view of a variation of the belly.
first thought was to make it look like a chines fighter armor (flakily)
second thought was to make it look like a strong modern armor divided in three parts
(on the right)
sketch No. 2:
http://chris.descomp-it.de/sketch%202.jpg
(frontview)
now drawing the details (hands,... etc)

i just give a dam on detail sketches
i´ve to model something : D
starting with upper arm
the rest of the body will follow...
model No. 1:

(perspective)
wireframe No. 1:
http://chris.descomp-it.de/Roboter%200a.jpg
(all views)
maybe there´s no need of wireframes on this stage, but i´m planing to attach an wireframe to every modeling stage. (only a small size image)
i´m working on the rest of the arm, so stay tuned....
chucy©

Very nice. :buttrock:
The concept rocks as well.
Is there gonna be a tube/pipe that connects both arm sockets, I didn't see 1 in the drawings. If not, are the connectors/tube things purely decorative? They'll look cool either way. Keep up the fast and v good work.

Welcome to CG Talk, chucy© - great to see another new challenger
Firstly, good luck for this challenge - you're going to have lots of fun, and learn so much too!
Secondly, great concept and start so far :D
I like the concept - hehe Ninjas are great! And so far the model looks like it's coming along nicely too. The only crit I really have is that he looks a little bulky for a ninja. I think it would be quite hard to creep around and jump from rooftop to rooftop with all that gear...
chucy©
06-03-2003, 09:31 PM
thanks alot again for this great welcome
and for this positive feedback
So now i´m gonna answer some questions:
@Nicodemia:
Yes there will be a type of connection.
I´ve planed to make a hose in which all that cable stuff is packed in. Because it would take too much time to model all this details.
Let me see, maybe when modeling has finished it´ll become more details.
Those connectors are for filling up the hydraulics. (sorry i can´t explain the technical details on english, but the connectors make sense, thats the message ;) )
@Leigh:
hmm ok it´ll be a heavy ninja ;) falling from one rooftop to the next.
I thought a backpack with gas an turbines will adjust the heavy gear. He could take it (backpack) off, but with it he could do all that crazy martial arts we´re knowing from matrix reloaded.
Of cause he is able to do some harder stuff than neo! And because of his original ninja program he´ll do this on a perfect ninja style. During the game he´ll learn to use his whole capacity and doing things you could never imagine.
i´m so excited to play this game one day, hope you do the same.

Without the torso, the jet exhaust almost looks like his legs, so he seems to be slouching (this isn't a crit, just a funny observation).
Definately lookin' good so far. Can't wait to see more.

but tomorrow i´ll work the whole day to get this character finished ;)
@hypercube: well the thrusters are mainly decoration. after looking this model for days now, i´m not sure if i like this details anymore. on a technical view it would be a obstacle.

great modeling, but i don't like your model in particular.
Virtuoso
06-08-2003, 09:11 PM
Quite alot of modeling, well done too.I think once you get the foundation the bulk of modeling done you can then concentrate on the details such as expression or more character to the face itself,I just think a face is needed,it adds almost everything to a character, just my thoughts, not a knock on your idea,to each his or her own. Any chance on adding a face?
I think that once rigged also the character will be even more appealing with a flexible pose. I can only suggest more warmth or character ,but in time I am sure this will come. The work thus far is very well done, lots of it,and quite ambitious, always a very good thing, good start Chucy.....
