Hello everyone it's a big pleasure to me to join this community so full of talent, just saw some of the most replied sketchbooks here and it's amazing, i hope to pass there as soon as i got time.
My name is Bernardo and i'm from portugal, i haven't done any art school but i'm trying to educate myself.
At the moment i'm trying to learn the human figure, i have divided the body in parts to study them easly and i have started from the torso.
I started from a 3d background instead of a 2d background but im trying to balance it now by studying anatomy, sketching it and then modeling it, i guess with practice you will get nice results.
I never was very good with the pencil but for the purpose of studying anatomy and understand it better before i jump into some application, i have started doing this sketchs that help's me out to start having a better understand of form and that will make my life easier later.
I will keep it updated has i go along, here are some torso studies that i have already done.

(i'm using this thumbnails because some of those renders are kinda big but in the next ones i will get some decent size to add directly to the forum)

That is a lot of work when you see them all together like that :) They look very good as a group and there is a good bit of improvement in piece. Keep posting :D

Great start of your thread with some torso study ! :wavey:

At the moment i'm trying to learn the human figure, i have divided the body in parts to study them easly and i have started from the torso.
It's a great idea no doubt about that, plus after doing some perfect average man study, you can do female studies, child, young and old age studies as well. Also I suggest to do four type of man study - thin, thick, average and muscular.

Thin - for bones structure
Thick - for bulgy or you can say fatty type of human
Average - for bones and muscles together perfectly balanced
Muscular - for that exaggerated hulk type of feel

Keep posting . . .

Amazing sculpts. Only crit is that you have 4 abs visible in the one picture, where there should be 6 visible.

Thanks womball im glad you liked it.

I'm studying the arm atm i have done the ecorche first and then i started by trying to get some gesture to it and the overall masses in place, what im trying to accomplish atm is to understand anatomy, gesture and most of the forms, but as soon as i finish all the parts of the human figure, then i will go further with it, in detail and form like Deepam as suggested.
