Title: Death Tarot
Name: Patricia Smith
Country: USA
Software: Painter, Photoshop

This was for the All-Girls Thunderdome over at ConceptArt. The topic: Tarot Cards. You chose a card and created your own version.

I, of course, chose Death. Reason being, I immediately thought of Jessica Lange as Death in "All That Jazz" (btw, one of my favorite films of all time). And I wanted to create an image with colors that would conjure up dread once it was laid down and would also be undeniable in it's message.

BTW, this was from earlier in the year - but I believe the entire "finally completed" thread (some fantastic images) is still accessable!

This really makes me want to create my own tarot deck, too. Someday!

I like this version of "death", and a hat instead of a hood is a nice detail ;) just to the left top corner it could maybe get a bit darker.

Geneticeye: thanks! I never thought of making that top left corner darker; although now that you mention it and as I look, that would make sense!

As for the hat (and not a hood) - thank you. I looked over a LOT of Tarot cards, both old (very old) and modern and the lot of them have Death wearing the hood. Just seemed so....boring? Expected? Obvious?

Plus, I like big floppy hats!

What a great card ! I read tarot and I love the artwork you did all the blood layering on her feet as flowers, and the stylish representation I love that movie as well! 5 stars I say! :applause: and hope to see your work in this project on the feature, if you decide to that is going to keep going off course ;)
