hello,

i am trying to create an organic shape using displacement in my texture and then turn that shape into a wireframe with the mesh following all the peaks and valleys of the displacement.

right now i am just trying it on a sphere with a simple noise texture in the displacement channel. the mesh gets the displacement i want when i add the displace deformer. however, i can't seem to then turn that displaced mesh into a wireframe.

i have tried this tutorial: http://www.c4dcafe.com/ipb/index.php?autocom=downloads&showfile=196

when i follow the tutorial without displace deformer it works fine, but trying to combine it with the deformer, it keeps giving me a perfectly spherical wireframe.

maybe there is a better way to go about this?

thanks in advance

If you are just doing a still, you might want to do Current State to Object and bake the deformation, I expect it would render correctly then.

ahh yeah that should work fine. i am not making a still but the object itself would only need to rotate, so i think that would give me what i need.

thanks, i will try that.

edit: works great ty!
