hypercube 06-03-2003, 06:40 AM Just getting my thread open to kick my fat ass in gear..
I have an old concept that I've been wanting to get to for a long time, it'd be perfect for this, but for the life of me I can't find it. I may just have to redo it from memory..I had worked out a 3D shape for it too, and can't even find that! Maybe it's a sign. :hmm:
One way or another something will appear here soon, I swear. :D

Ok, back from the ashes..here's the rough form of it..really only a starting off point, will embellish and most likely change a lot. The main idea is that it looks aquatic.
The basic concept is a Wipeout style game, F1 style antigravity racing, but without being a carbon copy. Of course after Episode 1 the whole ag-racing genre may be impossible, but we'll see how successful this is or not.

Let me know what you think, if you think there's enough to think about yet..heh.

i dont mean to be a dick or anything, just trying to warn you
the rules say this:
Important, Please DO NOT use any models prior to the challenge start date, please start from scratch. If it's evident you used an old model, you will be told to remove and start over.
that is old geometry your using right?

The design is old, this is just the old pic of it..I tend to work stuff out in 3D vs. sketches, and I could barely find this, let alone the sketch.
I haven't started modeling anything yet..like I said, just a base. I'll show every step, if anyone has a problem I'll just go build my crap on my own time, or build something different.

Ok, sorry for getting stressed, I'm just at the tail end of a rather hectic project :insane:
Had that thought in the back of my head this might not read as kosher, I should have been clearer about it. I'll see about doing some paintovers to show better where I'm trying to go with this too..
party on.. :D

"So my only choice is '...or death?'..very well then, I'll have the chicken."
Ok, finally done with the project that was killing me all week, :insane:, so had some time to get back into it..still very rough! But you can see a little more of how it's going..
Here's a start on the body panels and some battery packs and camera/sensor pods:

And here's a closeup of the nose and maglev unit:

The panel lines are still loose because I'm still deciding how it's all going to go..the large section on top is going to get broken up as well, the idea being that the pilot's actually fully protected in a capsule inside, and sees out through sensors and cameras.
Let me know what you think, more to come quickly now I hope in the space between projects..
cheers

Well it's coming along nicely now.One of the threads to keep an eye on.Nice organic shapes and feel to it already.
My only early suggestion would be to "Possibly" and I do mean possibly, would be to expand the wings and center rear upper tail even more, flare them out exxagerate them even more............:D ..................Just a thought really. But all in all it's one to watch, nice start Hypercube, keep the up-dates coming.
I really like it :D
love to see it flying around a track
are your going to do a cockpit with a driver or just heavily tinned the glass??
with all the detail in the engines ( excellent ) it will be a big job doing the cock pit :hmm:

Thanks for the replies guys! :surprised
Sorry I haven't been working on it, I've really just had to get away for a bit while I have a break from work, it's too nice doing stuff that's not computer related at all
Also kind of going all over design wise and need to clamp it down, a friend of mine suggested a new direction for the nose, and that's kind of got me off on a tangent. I'm liking exaggerating it, but I'm concerned it's looking a bit more avian than alien or aquatic..I have an idea of how to make it all work..figured it's a good time to ask you guys what you think..the old nose is still an option of course, haven't started anything at the machine-shop yet :D
here goes..

Suggestions and Comments much appreciated!

I think you may have a future problem because your current ship design may look too long, too skinny and fragile looking for a tube racing game. Perhaps you should consider aquatic or alien designs for their stubbing control surfaces.
