i modeled a skateboard and figured i needed to use is somehow. this is what i came up with. i modeled everything except the bench(its from the community).

I bookmarked this site (http://www.fineart.sk/index.html) as it has fabulous references.

I sometimes wonder if a second or even third bone in hands would help with some of the flex a human hand is capable of.

I have to agree the hands could use a little work. Other than that, this character has turned out pretty good. Congratulations.

Very cool character and pose, though I think the spine is too straight. I personally think the fingers look great for this style. It's pretty common in animation for the faces to be extremely stylized and simplified while the hands are almost realistic, and it can become pretty ludicrous IMHO.
