View Full Version : using alphas to clip texture maps
MadHamish 06-03-2003, 02:04 AM Hi all,
I have been playing with the demo version of 8.1 and can't seem to work out how to apply a alpha image to clip away a section of a label I want to apply to a bottle. Would anyone be able to tell me how? thanks very much.
Cheers

put your bitmap or what ever it is in the alpha channel of a material (I assume you know how to make a material). Then just drop it on your object, and viola certain areas should be gone.

JIII - yeah, thats what Ive been trying, but it cuts/clips the actual object itself, not just the bottle label. I'll keep playing, thanks very much.
ahh you should try using two diffrent materials.
1 for the label.
2 for the base color.
either that or use SLA fusion I just gave a breif overveiw of that in another thread just below this one.
