View Full Version : Ink 'n Paint Render
coffeepenguin 06-03-2003, 01:56 AM Does any one know of a render engine for max that will render out vector based images when the ink 'n paint shadder is used? Or if there is a way to automate a process of doing a "trace bitmap" type operation of converting raster bases images to vector based if I were to render out sequential bitmaps?

I know that plasma will render to flash file, and those vector images can be manipilated in a vector pased program ie flash... which I am sure you could get to Freehand and Illistrator. So I believe that the answer is yes you can.
By the way plasma works as a standalone program and as a plugin.
Yup there are plugins around that let you render out .swf or .ai files straight out of Max, animations as well; there was a thread about that not long ago, stuff like Swift3d, Illustrate or FinalToon can do that, with more or less controls over optimisation, rasterising and shaders used.
But ink n'paint i think won't let you render out vector based illustrations, since it's a Max specific shader, i would guess it won't work with any of the above mentioned plugins, that probably come with their own Materials and/or shaders - which will probably let you achieve same if not better results anyway.

Illustrate! 5.2 can export as Adobe illustrator (AI) or Flash. But it's 395 $ at http://www.digimation.com/software/asp/product.asp?product_id=254&category_id=1
