View Full Version : Composition lenght max 3 hours in AE ?
SwannCG 08-22-2008, 10:10 AM Hello everybody,
Like in topic title, is it the max value that AE can handle ?
Even if I try to set it 4 it still creates 3 hour long composition.
Thanks

What are you making that's over 3 hours long? Just curious.

I just want to merge film into one piece. First piece is 3 hours long and second 40 minuts but from those 40 minuts I need only last 30 or so to add to the end of first piece. It should be about 3.30 hour long.
I don't need ant transitions between pieces. When you merge them film will be smooth like butter.

Why then don't you use a tool suitable for the task? Even the free VirtualDub can append files. Not sure why you would even bring a 1 hour film into AE, let alone a monster of 3+ hours duration. Sounds hairbrained. If that's a regular occurence, then frankly you are using the wrong tools to begin with and should reconsider your software strategy.

It's not that I can add second piece just like that. Those two pieces are the same film. The reason that I want to join them is that first piece have those last 30 minuts broken.
Is there posibility to slide film in VirtualDub to avoid time mowement (don' know is this a good word) and match action to another movie?
EDIT:
Looks like something like adobe Premiere will be useful.
EDIT 2:
Thanks, looks that VirtalDub is what I need.
EDIT 3:
Whoaaa, it can't read *.wmv files, any converting software advice ?

Premiere, Sorensen Squeeze, Apple Compressor, Quicktime or Super(C).

Even iMovie is better suited to this task than AE.

If I remember correctly Premiere's timeline is limited to 3 hours as well.
I once wanted to make a single movie out of the three "Back to the Future"-movies... so 3 hours wasn't enough. Although I think that was Premiere Pro 1.5, so I'm not sure about CS3.
