Hi guys, I´m working in Brazil with Maya and have recently done a few architectural modeling and animations.
I would like to know how you guys budget for this kind of job.
Modeling for work hours?
Animation for seconds?
How much do you charge?
What would be a average rate for, say, the modeling and a 60 seconds animation of a building (outside and inside camera moves)?

Thanks a lot.

Well, it’s like going into a bar and asking for a beer. There are so many different types of beer it not funny. There are huge variations in detail in architectural drawings i.e. Reflected ceiling plans, sections etc.
I adjust my hourly rate according to the method I use (Mental Ray of default renderer) You will need to account for extra time as there is a lot of fiddling around in MR
I generally don’t charge for rendering, as this is not labour intensive. Just mention to your client the approx rendering times. Especially with different resolutions

Sorry I couldn’t help much, but ring some production houses around your area or some Architectural offices for some idea in rates.

Good luck mate
Ken
