View Full Version : Spline mapping-max or maya

just getting ready to map a somewhat coiled/twisted garden hose,
and since texture layers for max isnt free anymore and is the only plugin (that i know of) that allows spline mapping, well Im kinda at a loss here,

so are there any other plugins/scripts out there, for either maya or max that will allow this?
I dont mean to sound too incredibly lazy, but this would turn an otherwise tedious job into about 5 minutes of work,

not sure if this will help you but why don't you make a blend shape of it straightend out, lay the uv's on the straightend shape, then blend back to the curled position. If you still have the history/stack for the hose this will be really simple.

Even better would be to take the spline and make a Loft out of it, recreating the hose as a Loft object. Then UVs come for free.

I finally got it all sorted out, and ya know posm, i never even thought of that......at least someones on thier toes...
