This is what I get when it loads up. I just don't get it. For some reason any changes to anything having to do with preferences will not save.
I'm running XP, and my My Documents folder is set to be the E: drive. Maya and all my programs are installed on the main C: drive. So, that's why it created my Maya folder, which holds my preferences, on the E: drive. I don't know why that would be a problem.

I thought it was Maya 4.5, but I just installed 5.0 and it's got the same problem.

Okay, I changed my My Documents folder to be on my C: harddrive, and that fixed this issue for now. But, now my organization is kind of screwed up, so I'm wondering why it won't work to have the preferences folder on a different hard drive?

when your my docs folder was on e: drive, did maya still create a folder etc in c:?
maybe it just doesnt like to be put in a different place..
could be a windows thing too i guess.
i gave up trying to organise things the way i wanted, coz windows ends up just doing it the way it wants anyway :(

It did create a Maya folder on the E: Drive. For some reason, it just couldn't seem to overwrite the preferences files while Maya was going.

ya know . . . with all the power that comes with Maya, it still is kind of amazing that it always has little hiccups like that doesn't it? Oh well, I still love it. There's a reason Alias|Wavefront wins the academy awards and no one else does. So did you end up taking the job with Todd? Talk to ya later man.

Yeah, you'd think I'd know the answer to that by now. I'd say my answer is about 90% yes, 10% we'll see. I am working there, just not for full salary yet, but Todd says that will change as soon as budget goes up from the publisher - which should be anytime. That's the only hangup, everything else is going great.
