More announcements coming out of GC:

I like that you can draw something and get it in the game and it turns it into 3d for you to control and interact with your monkey.

Hah! Thanks sheep, this is another reason I'll use to finally slip a ps3 purchase past my missus when little big planet hits:beer:

Huh, interesting. This is the type of thing I see, and wonder wow, that's really neat, now I wonder how well it actually works.

They drew a car, is that a prechosen shape you can draw? If not, how in the world did it know what you drew, and to make it drive around like a car? If I drew an airplane would it know to have it fly around?

Anyways, I know nobody really knows too many answers yet, just thinking out loud (or in text). This is really cool nonetheless! And cute too!

Looks pretty good :)
I was wonder about the car aswell, hopefully they made a good way for it, maybe it asks you a question about what "thing" it is you have drawen.

I cant find the video right now but a while ago a sony dev posted a video showing him draw something on paper and scan it with the ps eye and have it instantly appear in the game fully controllable. He drew a tank for demonstration not unlike the car they draw in the video.

I think this is a version of that tech applied to a game.

I don't know very much about the eyetoy, but it's really interesting what they're doing with it.

it could be, only heavily modified. The tank game seemed to only be using sprite based graphics. This seems to trace the drawing as a vector and making it able to apply 3D extrusions.

What's most interesting to me is how average people are being introduced to augmented reality. How much longer before AR tools (finally) make their way into everyday professional use?

I think it's a mix of the Media Molecule tech behind LBP + that neat tank game tech demo + a virtual pet. It should be neat.

interesting.. but that "game" will get old after a day or two. It's a rental at best.

it for sure is interesting and oh so cute, however the big userpool will be all our kids, it´s like Pokemon on steriods :) the family kids and my gf´s brothers little girl just looooved it and he´s now forced to buy a ps3.. Well honestly we´ve been tempting him for a long time now with our blu-ray movies, divx movies, music and all our ps3 games, but eyepet is what finaly made him pick one up since his little girl got so fascinated and i think that´s where´ll you´ll find the big userpool, girls and little boys like her.

like cheebamonkey i doubt we grown up´s will enjoy it beyond the initial oooh how cute phase, but just like pokemon i´m sure it´ll be an instant and quite sustainable hit amongst kids.

I´m just glad we have more then one ps3 in our household so the kids can play with this and leave heavy rain and warhawk and everything else to us.. So yes we´ll be picking it up day one to :)

I too wonder how much game is there... though Tamagotchi, Pokemon, and Nintendogs made a pretty good run out of similar concepts.

Besides Eye of Judgement, the other PS3Eye games/apps have all been about $5 I believe. If EyePet hits that price point and is enjoyable for at least a week, I will get it.

I have to agree with some others here. It looks very cool, and id love to have a lil mess around with it, but i couldnt see myself playing with it for more than a day or two. Im more interested in it as a tech demo rather than something id want to do in my spare time.

Still good to see things like this though.
