Hi everybody,
I am not good at English conversation.
However, I want to modeling a terminator of the battle damage.
These are the reference photographs.

hi there, we're doing the same thing only im basing my reference on Sideshow Collectible's bust

here's some reference, i thought it might help

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=8318

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/?page_id=4489&sku=83331

there's a 360 degrees QTVR of both

all the best :)

I use ZBrush.
Imageplane that pastes the texture is Scalpted and only the depth of z axis is Scalpted
with a morph brush.

1.The SDiv level of the plane is raised.
The texture of the front and the profile is pasted to Imageplane.
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator2_1.jpg

2.The morph target is kept with Tool>MorphTarget>StoreMT.

3.It lowers z axis with Tool>Deformation>Offset(z) .

4.The same monochrome image as the texture image is pasted to the alpha.
Tool>Masking>Mask By Alpha

5.It makes it like the relief to the lift only of the front Imageplane
with Tool>Deformation>Offset(z).
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator2_2.jpg

6.It becomes detailed uneven in case of the Morfbrashi at a high SDiv level.
It is troublesome to mend it.
It lowers at a SDiv1 level, and
it makes it to 3D with the morph brush.
Irregularity is averaged with a smooth brush.
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator2_3.jpg

7.There is no what to the xy axis shifts because only z axis moves when
the morph brush is used.
In a word, only the depth will be sculptured.
Only a morph brush and a smooth brush are used.

8.The depth of the front face is sculptured while repeating this several times.

Thanks, southparx.

I have an endoskull.

Good Luck.

Obj made from ZBrush in LightWave3D is imported.
Obj is wrapped with the face topology plane.
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator3_1.jpg
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator3_2.jpg

Back of the head and the ear are added, and corrects it.

Interesting, I've never seen anyone model like that before. Looks effective though.

GhostmanZombie

Thanks namnocilis and WyattHarris

This technique flashed when I was using the morph brush of ZBrush.
The morph brush moves only in the direction of the normal.
Then, isn't it a just good for make the plane solid tool?

However, the morph brush is not used easily a little.
The knack is necessary until becoming accustomed.
ShrinkWrap is an easy method of changing topology.

GhostmanZombie
08-21-2008, 08:54 PM
Sorry, my explanation was a little wrong.
The morph brush doesn't move in the direction of the normal
but moves toward the morph target.

The face base object and obj are imported again to sub-tools of ZBrush by the same position and the same size.
The SDiv level is raised and store morph.
Tool>SubTool>Project All.
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator4_1.jpg
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator4_2.jpg

It averages with a smooth brush and a morph brush
when there is a part that became a noise.
It adjusts it with the move brush and Reproject Higher Subdiv.
Shape will be matched, and Project All and Zproject brush are used again.
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator4_3.jpg

The level is lowered to SDiv1, it makes to Cage, and obj is exported.

Wow GZ, that is a very different approach, but you have a good likeness to arnold there, and the endoskull looks cool. nice one!

Endoskull and Arnold 's head doesn't match it in parts.
Especially, the center axis position of eyeballs aren't suitable.

I should correct it.
http://wip.ghostman.zombie.jp/images/CGTerminator6_1.jpg

GhostmanZombie
08-26-2008, 08:20 AM
The eyeballs of the Endoskull was put out forward a little to be appropriate for Arnold's eyes.

The hair and the eyeballs are modeling by LightWave in another parts.
The clearance of the Endoskull and Arnie's face is adjusted.

Results are great as well.

Thanks, Alex.
I am honored to be praised by you.

Thanks, Sirhcnait .
When a smooth brush is multiused too much by the technique of the morph brush,
it is XY axis error margin.
ReSym and Smart ReSym are used at such time.
And, the XY axis points are made to line up in LightWave after it exports.
I worry whether to transmit my poor English.

This looks really good Ghostman,

The only things that I can pick at is the pores on his face. They seem a bit overly prominent/exaggerated. Maybe if they went inward as opposed to outwards, it might look more natural. Although, a bit of a smooth might fix it, but not too much.

Anyway, It's a great model, and a good likeness.

GhostmanZombie

Hi Steven, Thank you for advice.
Pores are certainly exaggerated.
I will correct the detail later.

The pose is put by using the transpose of ZBrush.
I should be going to make this in the battle damage version in the future
and change it.
There is still an incomplete object.
I might not meet the deadline.

Close, you have mixed ref photos, one photo of sculpture, one photo of latex mask one photo at 30 years old one at 50 years old. Try these.
